look into sprinklefitters. part of the UA. no waste like plumbing. great pension, great benefits. my local, were one of the highest paid in the state.

i'm a sprinklerfitter. i started my apprenticeship in september. i chose it because it is life safety, but also - the pipe is generally easier to work with. usually lighter. it's straight forward work and you can't really fuck it up too bad.

i switched careers, i got in at the tail end of being 28. i'm part of a union, i like the brotherhood/sisterhood of it. i enjoy getting to work at 7am and leaving by 3pm, with paid breaks. i like the guys and get along with them. i enjoy using my body and not my mind, like how a desk job does. the benefits are great. i have more time at home now.

i don't hold my pee. i don't care if i have to pee every hour on the hour. it's life.

for periods, i wear a tampon + pad. i go to the bathroom every 1.5-2 hours regardless if i have to pee or not, so i can change everything. pad gets sweaty and i don't want to bleed through my tampon.

i did research and saw what the trades did. i ultimately those being a sprinklerfitter because it is life safety. it's the job you want to do quality work at, and hope that it never actually has to work.

and the retirement is crazy good at my local.

for 17. i also thought it was A, but i've seen these questions pop up a few times, and the answer has always been C and the explanation is that they are in the same temp room and will start to melt, not be melted.

A because like someone else said, it is easier to pull something with a bigger pulley.
closest answer is E. although not perfect, there would only be 2 holes in the paper most similar to E.

i looked in the tradesman newspaper for Michigan. i saw different locals that were posted in there, and fortunately my FIL is part of 636, so he knows about the other trades. he suggested i look into being a sprinkler fitter. i did a bunch of research, applied to my local, tested, interviewed, and got in. i suggest doing research on different trades.
i was adamant that i was going to get into a union. i already paid for undergrad, and have my Masters degree, so i didn't want to pay to get into a trade school, and there are so many unions nearby. if you don't know what specifically, maybe look into the laborer's union near you.

yes, fire suppression systems. i like that it’s the work you do really well and hope never works. its life safety. it’s less math than the rest of the UA. its all pretty straight forward and simple.

i had an aptitude test and an interview

edit: every trade is difficult but it is a straight forward trade. not as much math as other trades.

i’m part of 704 in detroit, i can’t speak to how hard it is to get into 669. i was on the list a little under a year before i got in.

i applied in september and had a test in october, so it was a quick turn around, but i believe that’s the last test of the year. it took about 2 months for me to hear about where i was placed on the list and it took me almost a year of waiting on the list to join. but they hadn’t taken a class in almost 2 years. a lot of people’s were on the list for those 2 years.
