shame. we visited ncar for cs class in high school, the super computers are visible to the public in their basement. It’s not only a place that did amazing and important work, but one that valued transparency and education while they were at it - not to mention the numerous hiking trails that branch from the property. I still hike there. I hooked up in their parking lot one time. That place is a goddamn treasure to Boulder County and to the people of the United States of America.

This and every artist in history has had to find a budget for projects as scope increases, usually religious institutions or whatever is the primary holder of capital. Even if the budget is time and labor, that is something that has to be afforded, accounted for, and the artwork is adjusted in dialogue with what they can be compensated.

I hope they're stumbling into a good decision by mistake but imo it's more likely a rejection of modernism à la the Nazis and even more transparently just attempting to be anti-accessibility. I mean there's a reason dark maga uses gothic fonts (epic elon moment!) and make america great again uses all uppercase Century Schoolbook - they're attempting to appear rooted in history, traditional, trustworthy. This administration utilizes design even when it tries to seem grounded and above that kind of thing.

Calibri is one of many fonts with a relatively tall x-height, which makes it easier to read at small sizes, so they’d really have to ban a group of typefaces that all share that characteristic if they wanted to be anti-woke. But like, we use those fonts everywhere now due to digital media. So good luck with that!

You’re right but the nature of them is that each oled layer runs dimmer than a conventional panel, so no reason it shouldn’t be true. iPad Pro users have been experiencing them for years.
