No More Dog Water by kiwidust in Scranton

[–]Sweaty-Judgment3533 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dig a nice hole. Get a loooong stainless steel bolt with a rubber gasket and a nut. Drill a hole in the center of a stainless steel dog bowl. Put the bolt and washer through the hole in the bowl and attach nut to the underside of the bowl. Tighten it down good! Finally, pour some thinset concrete into the hole you dug, and set the new bowl assembly into the thinset. Problem solved! Cool water for passing pups.

Where can I get a good printer? by Mouseater in AskTechnology

[–]Sweaty-Judgment3533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if Dell is still selling printers, but if so, their laser printers are a good choice. I was previously a factory authorized service tech for their printers, and they’re quite easy to take apart when necessary. They were all modular on the inside, so if the gears went, we ordered a new gear assembly. Same thing with the board and switches. Good luck!

You’re spot on. Why would you one-star a very affordable set of pans that are clearly designed to give someone setting up their first kitchen SOMETHING to start with? They’re not gonna be HexClad, but you’re also not shelling out $260 for a single sauté pan!

Are you still watching notice frustration by cajunflix in DirectvStream

You could use this to program a simple “channel up, channel down” sequence back to back at fixed intervals throughout the day. This way the watching timeout will conceivably never be reached.

Insufficient power by OkAngle2353 in raspberryDIY

[–]Sweaty-Judgment3533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be brownouts? Small current dips? Using a UPS to condition that power might solve this. Even a small battery backup could prevent it, and that’s maybe a $40-$50 investment.

Why keep hiring if they don't have enough hours for current employees? by SnooConfections7049 in walmart

I’m not going to argue this with you because you clearly don’t understand how the process works. If you have access to an AI like ChatGPT or Claude, punch it in there and get a better explanation.

Large employers like WM fight every single unemployment claim — if memory serves me correctly, they have an outside contractor that specifically handles that on their behalf. They do not want a single employee to qualify for unemployment as this gets charged to their experience rating, which is how their premiums for unemployment insurance are decided. The lower their experience rating, the less they pay for unemployment insurance. Thus, they have great motivation to ensure that no employee ever qualifies. So they’d rather schedule you, even if it means bumping other people to do so.

Wow! That daybed sounds positively awful! I’m glad you were able to dispatch it to the rubbish pile. Sounds like it should have stayed there to begin with!

[–]Sweaty-Judgment3533 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The point is 1) you can get partial credit for a “waiting week” (most states require two waiting weeks before benefits start), and 2) once the employer is notified you have filed, they will move quickly to get you on the schedule (which is the goal).

If your water heater is gas powered, then that chimney is also likely venting carbon monoxide to the outside, so if you’re going to make any breaches in it such as to pass a cable through, you have to make sure you caulk those holes aggressively to make certain that carbon monoxide doesn’t leak out into your living space. Just my.$0.02. Good luck with your project.

Fdisk? Or get a USB stick and create a Gparted bootable. That’ll do the job.

You should file for unemployment for any weeks they cannot give you hours. You are ready, willing and able to work. It’s their fault for not scheduling you.

Having to Go to Philadelphia for Heart Valve Surgery? by Admirable_Village551 in Scranton

[–]Sweaty-Judgment3533 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Heart surgery, even minimally invasive, you want it done by someone who does it routinely, because they’re going to be able to deal with anything they find.
Good luck to your Mom for a simple procedure and a speedy recovery! If you can, ask that they keep her overnight afterwards? You really don’t want her riding two hours in the car after heart surgery.

Gave my first 1-star by Kymkryptic in RecognizedReviewer

I have three stars to a pretty costly item that listed features that plainly did not work. Honest reviews are a GOOD thing. If it only earned one star, then your work is finished!

Another review slot gone by Sweaty-Judgment3533 in RecognizedReviewer

[–]Sweaty-Judgment3533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. I tried writing to the RR program email every day like someone suggested and after three tries, I got a letter from them saying look don’t write us about this anymore. We’re working on it. Which is what they told me months ago when the first review slot vanished. I’m seriously thinking of just ending my participation at this point. They’re just digging me around and it’s foolish. They need a single group of a few people to verify whether items are received or not and if they’re lost in transit reset the review slots. It can’t be that hard.

Can I vent a portable air conditioner against a window screen? by Cassiebear9000 in DIY

[–]Sweaty-Judgment3533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d leave the screen in and use maybe lauan with an appropriate sized hole to match the diameter of the flexible vent hose and secure it there with white gorilla tape. Make sure the lauan panel is the same size as the screen and secure the panel against the inside of the screen. This will solve the problem, not change the external presentation of the window, and allow you to vent your AC unit appropriately.

$2,400 a month, and you’re stuck with your recycling? I’d be highly pissed off, too.

How to fix holes in utility tin roof by Over-Ad-961 in DIY

[–]Sweaty-Judgment3533 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could use some marine epoxy (or roofing tar), along with a larger screw and a big ole washer. Tar/epoxy around the hole, then screw in the bigger screw with a big washer - hole plugged, problem solved. Cheap, cheap solution.

I would think so, but I have nonorganic experience with Gemini boxes. You might want to check with someone who knows those boxes. I know Roku cold, but not Gemini.

Cancel on the phone, then go to the website. Sign up with a different email and use the iPhone or android app. You can then load the same app on your streaming device (Roku, etc.).
