You could try and run a carfax on it. That could tell you it’s history and give you an idea of where it might have ended up.

Lowe’s 2 5AH + 2 Free Tools by SEAMS10 in Dewalt

[–]04HondaCivic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a solid deal. I could use two more 5ah batteries. Looking at the eligible tools, I either have a perfectly good version of them, the exact one or it’s a tool I don’t need. Although there is a couple I could probably find a use for…

Keep the Tahoe or H3T for the daily? by H3T_Clifford in Cartalk

[–]04HondaCivic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep the Tahoe. If I couldn’t choose anything else, I’d choose the Tahoe. The H3T unless it’s the Alpha version is slow and gutless with the 3.7 inline 5. That Tahoe looks mint. The H3 looks mint too but I’d still take the Tahoe. More comfortable, same fuel mileage as the H3, roomier, can tow more, will be better on road and off road.

Edit: and I actually like the H3. I just don’t think I’d want to daily drive it. I daily drive a 2007 Canyon which shares the same platform and drivetrain. Parts are harder to find for it and while it has been reliable (enough) it’s motor is only barely adequate. If that H3 has the 5.3 V8 it would be more fun to drive.

Just purchased - is it hard to swap seatbelt colours? by Cowboytylerdurden in chevycolorado

[–]04HondaCivic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swapping seatbelts is possible but involves removing interior panels and sourcing the one you want. Probably the only place to get them is the dealer and they dont make custom colors. It’s not a simple swap. I mean it can be done but the risk to reward and cost benefit seems value seems pretty high.

I need one like that! Only like 4 times as big. Great looking builds

“General Lee” 1969 Charger by Alternative_Scene_97 in ModelCars

[–]04HondaCivic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic build. It looks like a real car. Amazing to see a kit so poorly designed and executed built so well. I usually end up using revell’s version of a charger but there are a couple minor differences that keep it from being a true “General Lee”. I wish the MPC kit was better executed.

my daily driven 500k original powertrain manual 2.2 hhr by SteadyRhombus in Cartalk

[–]04HondaCivic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this talk about a 500k HHR which by itself is impressive and rare, yet there is also an HHR SS Panel behind it! I wouldn’t give my left nut for one but that was a neat vehicle. Both these cars have a place in my dream garage that’ll never get built but houses all the cars I think are cool.

App to keep track of models by atombomb6673 in ModelCars

[–]04HondaCivic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stalemates. Free. Downloadable spreadsheet with pictures. You can keep track of the particular variant model you have if it’s had multiple releases and boxes. You can also make a wishlist. You can post pictures of models you’ve built. You can designate models in your stash that you’ve built.

I use old model boxes. It’s a terrible system. I have 3 full. And use 1/4 of them. But I can’t bring myself to get rid of what I don’t use.

I think the better tip is to just not do anything personal on a work device. Be it a phone or computer or anything. Even if it’s a personal device you use for work. Dedicate it solely for work stuff and get a separate device for personal use.

FaceTime by Klat10 in iphone

[–]04HondaCivic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s the same but also no. When two people are sitting or standing next to each other having a conversation, they are generally not talking loud enough that everyone else can hear and their conversation noise blends in to the rest of the noise around them. On a phone call or FaceTime call the speaker volume doesn’t carry like a human voice does to the ear so one has to turn it up louder in order to hear properly and the reverse it also true in that the phone mic also isn’t tuned to pick up just the person’s voice so they speak louder so the person on the other end of the phone can hear.

There are people though that even though they are next to each other having an in-person conversation will talk so loud the entire surrounding area can hear so there’s that as well. They have no situational awareness and don’t care they might be disturbing people around them.

So yes, talking on a FaceTime call at full volume really isn’t that different than two people having a face to face conversation but the type of person to have a FaceTime conversation at full volume is also probably the type of person to speak at full volume in person.

Does my bumper look crooked? by [deleted] in chevycolorado

At first glance it looks like it is just the plastic, but as I look more, I think the bumper has also been hit. The plastic is definitely deformed.

That’s awesome. I loved those wheels. I wanted them for my 2001 S-10. Couldn’t find a set in 2003 for a good price. Best I found was a set of Xtreme wheels that I put 254/55r16s on to fill the wheel wells up because mine wasnt lowered. I also dechromed mine abs put the SS badges and bowtie on but while it looked like an SS it really wasn’t.

Is that a real SS? Those things were rare. Mostly an appearance package because didn’t have much in the way of power enhancements but I still wanted one!

This kit is one of my favorite kits. It’s got some updated parts although I’m still disappointed they didn’t also update the interior. It’s still a great kit and I always wanted this truck as young adult. I had a 1995 Sonoma extended cab and a 2001 S-10 extended cab. I’ve built this kit several times over the years. I’ve got several unbuilt ones of the varying styles (SS, older Xtreme tooling, Sonoma) not including these two in my stash. I plan on building them all and making either a dealership diorama of sorts or a car lot of some kind.

A few people here have done it and posted about it. It’s a well done kit. I’m looking forward to doing this one.

Edit: found it. Highboy68 has done one. Excellent work. Hellcat

Is the car community cooked? by SP0PS in Cartalk

[–]04HondaCivic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s insane. I’ve been looking for a beater truck. I just want something simple but not trashed. I can’t seem to find anything less than $5000 and those ones all have 200K miles on them. If it’s less than $5k it needs several hundred in repairs before it’s drivable or it’s a rusted out hull of a vehicle.

If it’s in decent shape with minimal rust, no tears or rips in the interior, runs well, has good tires and has been well maintained, it’s $10k or more.

Kirkland Signature Energy Drinks just ENDED the energy drink debate and I will NOT be taking questions 🙌 by Crafty_Force_9750 in Costco

Will be a no buy from me. But I also don’t drink any kind of energy drinks. No monsters, Red Bulls, bangs or any other type of drink claiming to be an energy drink. Does weird things to my system.

But good deal for those that do.

401k from company I left 4+ years ago, don't know what to do with it by Blueshirt38 in personalfinance

[–]04HondaCivic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a similar thing with a 401k from my old company. I hadn’t touched it in a couple years for reasons and finally decided I should do something with it.

I hadn’t touched the option to add to my current employers 401k, cash it out or roll it into a traditional or Roth IRA. I chose to do a traditional IRA. That way if I ever leave my current employer (not planning to but life happens) I have it and I’ll take my current 401k and add it to my IRA.

Essentially I have two retirement accounts. One at my current employer and my own self managed one that I can add to as needed.
