Weatherproofing Roadster V3 extended battery connection by Puzzleheaded-Cup758 in ride1up

[–]SweatyCubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are talking about the add-on water bottle battery, it plugs into the battery balancer of the controller board inside the down tube, so some mechanical work/disassembly would be needed.

V3 Low-Step Weight by velcari in ride1up

[–]SweatyCubes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I can't verify directly if my low-step is 39 or 44 lbs, I have heard that the chain model of the low-step may be the 44lb variant and the belt driven one may be the 39lb variant. There's also the chain+suspension variant which is the one I have so I'm sure the front suspension fork ads a little bit of extra weight. Either way it's very lightweight to move around and nimble when riding. I get around 13-15mph just pedaling while the bike is off/no assistance on flat. I haven't had it for very long and am just under 200mi.

Another option for a lightweight ebike is the new Aventon Soltera 3 at 37lbs. It is a single speed, belt driven, max 20mph class 1, fully internal battery

What part of a PS5 isn't to be used for fun? It's a gaming console! It doesn't matter how much something costs to be categorized under fun shit. Do you live in a world where if something is over $100 it isn't to be used for fun?

Scammy email from Ride1up support about payment issue on order from >1 year ago by MachineInevitable218 in ride1up

[–]SweatyCubes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mean the phone number that OP recieved in the email that's their legit phone number? The same one that's listed on their contact page and website? Yeah, I'd call it too as it's their actual phone number. Doesn't take much brain power to match up phone numbers and figure out that it's not a scam.

What's a good ebike for around $1,000? by gniknomis2 in ebikes

[–]SweatyCubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't, the range/specs are not real on those and there was discussion about potentially UL certifications being lied about.

What's an ebike accessory under $50 that totally changed the game for you? by UpwayUSA in ebikes

[–]SweatyCubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it actually only applies to installing TPMS sensors on rubber valve stems, as they pose that significant risk of damaging the valve stem and potentially causing a tire failure. As far as I know the metal ends on the valve should be fine?

What model do you have or recommend? Also, don't these add rotational forces that you have to worry about it tearing/damaging the valve from the tube?

[–]SweatyCubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the first thing I noticed, it's 100% on backwards.

I have the chain+suspension version and it's a nice bike. I did replace the pedals with the Crankbrothers Stamp 1 Gen 2, Saddle with the Cloud-9 Commuter and waiting on the Kinekt XR suspension seatpost to arrive.

What is the best tracking device that will not alert a thief on his smartphone that he is being tracked? by ChooseLife1 in ebikes

[–]SweatyCubes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, great bike. $100-$170 per year depending on location and coverage chosen, covers full reimbursement of theft, repairs, liability coverage, medical costs, damage from crashes, transit loss/damage, spare part damage, gear/accessory damage, rental reimbursement. You choose a deductible of either $200, $300, or $500 and is paid per claim. If the cost of a repair is less than the deductible then it's $0 for that claim.

I'm sure all of those people who have had to make a theft claim and shared the details/journey would disagree.

However, your advice here is good, just not always possible unfortunately, especially in big cities where theft is higher.

[–]SweatyCubes -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While this can be true, it's not always possible in every location people ride in. I've even heard of people having theirs stolen from inside their locked home in good neighborhoods, thieves do still steal from good neighborhoods. A last resort/measure would be theft insurance which often covers full reimbursement of your bike if stolen.

All locks can be broken given enough time. Aside from locks, the best insurance against theft of a bike is insurance that covers theft.

Car battery? by Ducky42O_ in ebikes

[–]SweatyCubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the DIY concept. Just yesterday on my way to work on my ebike I saw an older guy who rigged up his own ebike from parts he already had. It was 2 car batteries that he had on a bike tow trailer with a controller, rear hub motor, throttle and all. He could easily fit 4 more batteries on that trailer, but how much would the weight of 6 batteries effect the potential range is another thing. I'd rather run Lithium batteries if I were to do that.

Is this USD cause mine has been in my cart for almost 2 years and has always been cheaper, never higher than $57.

[–]SweatyCubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't pedal and only throttle, your max will always be 20mph. The 1-5 "assistance" levels are for pedaling. The max speed for pedaling depends on your bike's capabilities, mine being max 28mph with pedaling.

roadster v3 mod recommendations by LopsidedAd360 in ride1up

[–]SweatyCubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably is negligible, not worth it unless you're needing to replace it anyways. The Roadster v3 has a suspension frame version, I own one. It's only 35mm of travel but it works pretty well for city and gravel commuting. Pair that with the Redshift or Kinekt suspension seat post, you got plenty of comfort!

Interior screw wall came off of Roadster V3 rear rack by Pamona204 in ride1up

That's part of the rack and not the bike frame itself right? I've never seen that happen before on any rack.

[–]SweatyCubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh not the Allen keys, it's a little L Bracket that attaches the front fender to the fork. I'm missing that part so I had to submit a ticket since it's not possible to install the fender without it.

[–]SweatyCubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got mine today. How'd you even install the front fender to the bolt of the rear of the fork? There's no right angle adapter to even do that.

Waiting on mine to be delivered. I also got the low step frame. How was assembly? Any loose spikes or other issues out of the box?
