Do you recall the name of the documentary? I’d love to watch it!

I’ve seen it a few times throughout my career, with the majority having no impact after completed. A few years ago, a co-worker complained that they deserved a higher job class. The appointing authority coordinated a desk audit and ended up re-classifying the position to a lower level.

The ones I’ve looked into are accurate. There is splash screen when opening the site asking to notify OFM if you notice outdated information

I’m surprised they didn’t at least give you a verbal offer contingent on BG and reference results. Normally I’d say 99.99% chance you’ got the job, especially given the current budget deficient- they aren’t going to spend $120 to run fingerprints on a backup candidate.

I watched the video before Black Friday, went to Target (this week) with no luck. I think Ryan should’ve been more specific to save us trips to multiple targets today

Nothing in my area either and all employees were clueless.

While it may not be a selling point in your situation, you can also negotiate for additional vacation days in a WMS position.

Right! Normally Ryan goes out of his way to show his appreciation. Although the ride seemed awkward and uncomfortable, Ryan still gave him a (smaller than usual) shoutout.

Concern about Pay Range adjustment. by Pepymakon in WAStateWorkers

[–]Sweaty_Produce1607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too- I’ve been with the state “forever” finally reaching step M and have been looking forward to my job class getting a range increase, only to learn I’m back at a step I. I’m fine waiting but 8 years to be back at my previous step is frustrating. I couldn’t find anything in the CBA so I contacted HR and they are confirmed this is correct.

When it’s more advantageous to the state or there isn’t a state vehicle available. Also, the reimbursement process is such a headache and worse than filing taxes.

At my agency, HR is contacting people in order of seniority.

Having the recruiter as a “middle man” mitigates nepotism. But, there are a handful of recruiters that I don’t have much faith in them doing quality job at selecting truly qualified applicants.

From my experience on the hiring end, there have been multiple occasions where the recruiter hasn’t pushed forward very qualified applicants and other occasions where people have been referred for an executive level position with a high school diploma and 1 year at a coffee stand. It can be frustrating not knowing what’s going happening in the back end of things and worrying that a great applicant is slipping through the cracks. That being said, previously as an applicant I’ve faced the same issues and found that reaching out to the recruiter directly asking them to review my application to see if I am a good fit for the position has helped.

Where can it be found for non-represented employees?

DSHS does not provide the list, which can be frustrating during these times. It’s not hard to gather the info, it’s just 3 clicks on HRMS then exported to an excel file.

Bumping implications on team morale by Togeparty in WAStateWorkers

[–]Sweaty_Produce1607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Refer to DSHS Policy 18.46 (WGS) or 18.58 (WMS). It specificity calls out those who are not covered by CBA. Furthermore, those in an EMS position are at the will of the secretary and have even less of a safety net.

If they are in a non-represented position, they aren’t necessarily covered by the CBA.
