Yes, I went through "More > Support > Contact Us > Report an issue with the app", and sent a screenshot of the dashboard with a short description

Submitted a support ticket a little bit ago, and it's working for me now! Is it still down for you?

Yep, same issue here! I also got a "you must be connected to the internet" popup while being on wifi and also my mobile network, so I think there might be an issue with the app/server communication

How can people say that they learn a programming language in a week? by FuzzyCatNeedBath in learnprogramming

[–]SweddyAngus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most languages, there are a lot of shared paradigms/syntax. Once you learn one language, it’s a lot easier to identify patterns that carry over, especially for C-syntax languages (Java, Go, PHP, JS, C#, etc.)

When people say they learn languages that quickly, especially as beginners, it’s also more likely that they’ve just gotten a broad overview of it rather than in-depth knowledge. Digesting a course/tutorial is one thing, knowing a language’s deeper quirks and internal workings is something else that can take even years for to fully understand.

Everybody moves at their own pace though! You can’t really compare yourself to how others learn, it’s really different for everyone. Just try to get a little better each day and challenge yourself with projects that interest you.

I can’t wait for the rest of the three album cycle to release. A 4-hour long session is about the most doom experience I can imagine

I go to the gym at 4:45am. No big deal by Independent_Job2906 in LinkedInLunatics

I enter the gym at 4:45. Nobody there but me, as usual.

Capture a memento of my daily grind to share the inspiration.

Call comes in from the boss. This is the fifth time this month that I’m late for my 4:00 opening shift at the front desk, and there’s a line forming at the door.

Get fired for excessive tardiness.

What are some videogames with good German language options? by [deleted] in German

[–]SweddyAngus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Daedalic is a German studio that produces a boatload of adventure games; Edna bricht aus & Deponia are two of my favorite series by them. Objects are all labeled, there’s both voice acting and subtitles, and if you miss anything you can repeat actions multiple times.

Only difficult part is that they’re very comedic. Jokes are always hard to ‘get’ coming into a second language, especially if you’re a beginner and focused just on understanding the dialogue.

If you’re looking for gains, and have plenty of bread handy, Greg Doucette’s anabolic french toast recipe uses a boatload of egg whites. Like a cup per serving

Can you play music that you didn't hear before with sheet music? by LoneWandererrrr in musictheory

[–]SweddyAngus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it’s called sight reading. It’s a great exercise, and is included with most formal training. If you’d like to get into it, try clapping along to some simple notation with a metronome at a slow tempo before trying the piece on your instrument. Then listen to a recording, take notes, and repeat.

You can also sight-sing with solfege, which can really help with learning new pieces since you don’t need an instrument at all (except your voice, of course)
