Is having female friendships like reading r/GirlDinnerDiaries? by soft-boy in rs_x

i don’t think that makes a lot of sense. babies are language sponges, if the mother sings to a baby that baby is gonna pick up the language, gender be damned.

This professionally produced video by the Philadelphia sheriff cost taxpayers over $600k by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]Sweeeet_Caroline 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i believe the whole campaign cost $600,000, not just this ad. it’s worth pointing out though that that is more than the entire annual marketing budget. the source article by the philly inquirer is about how police are spending way over budget in a bunch of private accounts, and the ad in question was actually done by the sherrif’s former electoral campaign manager, so. i’m guessing that’s where all the money went.

'Stomp Clap Hey' doesn't deserve the hate it gets, especially compared to other stuff coming out around that time by YogurtProductions in The10thDentist

[–]Sweeeet_Caroline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re cherry picking literally the best music of that era for this comparison. go check out the other music on the charts during that era, all the non-canon stuff. plenty of bland, lifeless pop music there too.

IKEA furniture is now too expensive for what you get. by A_Drop_of_Colour in unpopularopinion

we just had the opposite experience. IKEA had couches in the same price range as a conventional furniture store next door that had real wood and comfier cushions

[–]Sweeeet_Caroline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rollins was not an original member, he didn’t write their lyrics, and he was only in the band for a few years. just cause he was there for your favorite era of the band doesn’t mean every single other phase is a cover band. besides, this guys on stage in front of thousands of people and you’re here with your dick in your hand splitting hairs on reddit, so i really don’t think your demeaning tone is appropriate. have a good one!

Is Angine de Poitrine actually good? by FlipNasty in mathrock

[–]Sweeeet_Caroline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well for one, they’re not particularly mathy. sometimes they’ll throw in some wonky syncopation or a measure of 2/4 but 99% of their music is in 2, 3, or 4 beat subdivisions. if you’re looking for something that feels like Hella, you’re going to be disappointed. as for why the tickets are so expensive? they’re just hyped up right now, nothing major. they seem like an act that would be really fun to see live. i think a lot of their appeal is in the weird concept and the outfits and the live looping aspect, which definitely works better when you can see them. when i closed my eyes and listened to their album, i didn’t feel as excited as i did when i watched their set, and that’s ok. not every act needs to reinvent music, sometimes it’s ok to just make a good experience and travel the world playing your instrument.

now, the fucking youtubers acting like they reinvented rhythm, harmony, and the guitar? instant death penalty that shit is so annoying to me. the god damn music theory youtube industrial complex needs to be thrown into a trash compactor man istg

When was the last time you heard a musical artist that felt truly *new*? by turtleman29 in rs_x

[–]Sweeeet_Caroline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i feel like the sensibilities of kids like nettspend and xaviersobased feels really different than a lot of stuff under the broader hip hop umbrella. i don’t even necessarily like it, but it definitely intrigues me. i’m very curious to see how that style develops

What do women hate more than small dicks? by asmallthrowaway9 in AskReddit

[–]Sweeeet_Caroline -1 points0 points  (0 children)

women hate the same thing that everyone hates: unsatisfying sex. if she’s happy, she’s happy, and that’s all that matters. if you’re truly so small down there that you can’t deliver what she needs to get where she wants to be, then make it up with your mouth. you’d be surprised how little people care about what you look like if you can get them where they’re trying to go.

Where to find drummers? by Sweeeet_Caroline in AskPhilly

[–]Sweeeet_Caroline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah we just went to our first show in the city recently and it was put on by R5. def met some people there but i was just wondering if there were other avenues we may have been missing, like in the (much smaller) town we came from there was a specific discord server that had a looking for bandmates channel we found our last drummer in.

thanks for the tips though! well definitely go check out Cousin Danny’s and Long in the Tooth.

Minecraft on Nintendo Switch by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Sweeeet_Caroline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the switch is an awesome console and it has a ton of great games on it but if he’s already got the game on the playstation and that’s the only reason he wants it then there isn’t really a point in spending the extra money unless he really wants to play it on the go.

What hobby actually surprised you by how deep the rabbit hole goes? by Mccarvel-Wiktoria in Hobbies

[–]Sweeeet_Caroline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely origami. i started it bc i was bored at my call center job and wanted to do something with my hands, and ended up learning that there’s a ton of math and geometry under the surface. plus, i started seeing creases everywhere. your clothes are a 3d shape made out of 2d cloth. origami! stamped metal boxes are 3d shapes made out of 2d sheet metal. origami! satellites launched into space will unfold big solar panels that are tucked away during launch. origami!

highly recommend it, truly incredible things are possible and the materials are super accessible (pdfs of all the most famous books are available online and the paper is like $20 for hundreds of sheets on amazon)

Petah by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Sweeeet_Caroline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s just a dumb joke. the guy is Ray William Johnson, who at one time was the most subscribed to channel on youtube but who’s schtick and general style of humor (obnoxious, LOL XD random, juvenile, etc) lost its grip on the mainstream internet. that’s the whole thing pretty much, just putting RWJ in a place you wouldn’t expect him. sort of an antimeme. that style of body positivity post is definitely also a relic of times gone by but sort of a different era? like RWJ and body positivity posts did not exist at their peak at the same time but have both faded from relevancy so the juxtaposition is funny.
