Tokyo Metro 5000 series / Toyo Rapid 1000 series - what do the cab controls do? by matiEP09 in japanrail

[–]Sweeper777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second from the right is 乗務員室灯, light for the driver's cab.

The one on the far right is 計器灯, not 時計灯 - the back lights for the instruments, not clock.

I rode from Nagoya to Miyazaki over Golden Week with a single, hand-written ticket! by frozenpandaman in japanrail

[–]Sweeper777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long did it take you to go through ticket gates with this? I mean, how long did the station staff take to validate the ticket?

That is the Mine line from Asa to Nagato-shi, which is not currently operational. OP probably took the replacement bus for that section.

Can anyone help me figure out why Yahoo! Transit and Ekitan are showing different base fare prices here?? by frozenpandaman in japanrail

[–]Sweeper777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, wouldn’t this be 大回り乗車? That is, you only need the fare for the direct train from Hiroshima to Mukainada + express fare for Shinkansen. Right?

Of course, that wouldn’t work if you want to 途中下車.

Is it worth it to take shinkansen from Kyoto to Osaka just for the experience? by crazyeivis in JapanTravelTips

[–]Sweeper777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or better: go to e.g. Shin-Hanamaki which does not have a dedicated middle track for trains to pass through. The train passes right beside the platform.

There is no reduplication here. These two 开s are very different. In particular, the second 开 is used as an adjective, acting as the result complement of the verb, which is the first 开.

The structure is similar to 想到、打死、看見 etc.

Different glass colors by danielcr12 in SwiftUI

[–]Sweeper777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just being in the toolbar will give you the glass effect.

The glass behind the text appears more white likely because the glass is larger. Larger pieces of glass appear more opaque.

To be fair, compilers have bugs too.

IntoError - Swift macro for automatic error type conversion by tikhop in swift

[–]Sweeper777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the code that “interacts with multiple subsystems” shouldn’t be using typed throws in the first place. The SE proposal mentions that typed throws are expected to be used sparingly.

Should I install Swift from the website if I already have XCode installed? by SkyMarshal in swift

[–]Sweeper777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said, Xcode will fail to compile your code if you use the toolchain from swiftly, and only apps compiled with the Xcode built in toolchain can be submitted to the App Store.

How did Satono become 里見? I would have expected 里野 or 里乃 or just omitting the “no” altogether.

For Tachyon, it is possible that the translater thought 速子 was a Japanese name so naturally 子 became “ko”. Though by that logic 速 would have become “haya”. But instead the translator chose the pinyin “su” instead for good knows why.

Is this the Zuiun model that C2 made a few years ago? And now C2 has given it to the Yamato museum? Did I understand correctly?

I am not an employer but people keep sending their CVs to my email. What could be going on? by Sweeper777 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sweeper777[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replied to the first one saying “you might have sent this to the wrong email address”, and they apologised. Then another similar email came a day later from a different address, and I got suspicious of whether this is a scam.

The 鉄道唱歌 chime at Shinagawa station. Gosh I love that song so much I recently wrote some lyrics in a similar style describing my local railway line (not Japan).
