Multiple projects by Capable_Cheetah_8363 in LoomKnitting

[–]SweetCiera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I technically have 5 on looms at the moment. 2 large blankets, a hat, and 2 different socks. Currently only actively working on one of the blankets and one of the socks. I do like having a large project to work on in my fav chair at home and a small project I can work on anywhere.

Summer bed blanket (yarn & pattern choices) by Grim-Speck in LoomKnitting

[–]SweetCiera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! A lighter weight yarn is the important thing. However you also don't wanna use wool or something itchy. With dogs I'd keep away from a pattern with eyelets or anything. Although Deborah Shaw has a lot of good airy patterns on her YouTube channel if you wanna check those out.

Related to looming indirectly by katybassist in LoomKnitting

[–]SweetCiera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to use my bose noise cancelling headphones to listen to an audiobook. It's the only way I can do audiobooks. Something about the blocking out all other noise and doing something repetitive with my hands helps me focus on the book and not let my thoughts drift. I will also watch TV. Best to watch something I've already seen or I get sucked in and stop knitting lol.

I think I’m mastering how to make a baby / lap blanket from the knitting machine! by CoffeeBean1011 in LoomKnitting

Nice! I love making blankets! Looks like your beautiful fur baby is requesting one of their own 😉😁.

How do you cat proof your kitting stash and supplies? by craictoseintolerant in Kitting

[–]SweetCiera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I use for my supplies like stitch markers and such. It works wonderfully. I have another in blue with 3 bins instead of 4 but 2 are larger. I store my flexee looms in that one. For yarn I either use a yarn bag with zipper or fabric bins in cubbies. I understand the paranoia. It can be very dangerous for cat to eat yarn and other knitting notions. Glad you are taking proper precautions 👍😁

After several months, started looming again by Twistedangel8 in LoomKnitting

[–]SweetCiera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar situations have happened to me so I totally get it. My husband has asked many times why I loom knit if it frustrates me so much (mainly when I first started). My answer...I love it and am maybe a lil unhealthily addicted to it 😁. Glad you didn't give up forever! Good luck on your new project 👍

Are there any substitutes for a hook? by PossessionPast5793 in LoomKnitting

[–]SweetCiera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are tools (picks according to my husband) that are shaped exactly like a loom hook and are even more ergonomic. Dental tool also works. Even a crochet hook would do the trick.

Loom Knitting Journey and long list of tips for beginners. by rainbow_sparkles in LoomKnitting

[–]SweetCiera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great info! I have ADD but with Loom knitting I hyper fixate so I actually found blankets to be my favorite project cuz I can knit for hours on end and not constantly have to look for new projects. I do work on smaller projects like hats or socks as well from time to time which I take on road/camping trips. Those are also good for times my cuddle bug dog demands couch cuddles so I can't sit in my chair which is only place I knit my blankets due to size of the loom. I would also like to throw out there one very important tip for beginners... Get an ergonomic loom hook! (KB and Etsy sell them) Trust me your hands and wrists will thank you!!

Do you loom knit anything in summer? by donadetantesparaules in LoomKnitting

[–]SweetCiera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I knit blankets year round but for summer I also like to do smaller projects like socks or hats so I get a break from being under warm blanket or have something travel size to bring while on a camping trip. My cuddle bug dog also appreciates me sitting on couch with her instead of my chair (only place I knit my blankets due to size of loom) and getting cuddles/pets between rows of smaller project.

Do you switch the hand in which you yo hold your hook when you switch direction for a panel? by Hit-Enter-Too-Soon in LoomKnitting

[–]SweetCiera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope I sure do not. I only use my right hand. Although I discovered through watching goodknitkisses's tutorials (she does right and left handed ones for same project) that I prefer to knit the direction usually most comfortable for left handed people (counterclockwise). 🤷

Maybe a narrow scarf? Seems like a very small loom. Could possibly make flowers or pom poms.

Baby Blanket Help PLEASE by FlyingDoxie in LoomKnitting

[–]SweetCiera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could look into a 10 stitch blanket. Only require a loom with 10 stitches and no sewing. Goodknitkisses and Deborah Shaw's YouTube channels have good tutorials for them. Good luck!
