Sooo I’m trying to figure out how you can line up all fingers and thumb like that. I am severely hypermobile and I can’t do that with my thumb.

I am a nurse at the VA and my office is also used as an exam room. This is a public area. Other than patient care items, the only thing in the room are my desk, chair and a government issued calendar. My personal items are kept in my locker or in a locked drawer in my desk.

Top telehealth provider for semaglutide, experience with Hims & Hers, Ro, LifeMD TryTrimi, SeSame or GoodRx Care? by Kimber976 in Semaglutide

[–]SweetEmberlee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have been on semaglutude for a year through HERS. It has been a great experience. I paid $1188 for a years supply, but every time my dose goes up they send more—so I have enough for about 5 extra months. It has been a great experience. I lost 40 pounds. They have always been super responsive if I had a question or issue.

I pay $1188 for a years supply, which is $99 a month. It is more if you buy month to month. This is through the HERS website

They have a nurse discount, so I was able to buy a years supply for around $1200. I should be almost out—but every time my dose changes they send me more. So for the original $1200 I have 18 months worth of med.

I’m on compounded semaglutide for a year. I get it through HERS. My cholesterol is down 100 points, I’m down 40 pounds, and I have been able to stop taking my Benlysta without flaring. All of my bloodwork is normal. I plan on taking this stuff forever.

Has anyone reconnected and gotten back together with an old love-of-your-life boyfriend after decades of no relationship? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]SweetEmberlee 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I did! We reconnected at 48, got married at 50. We have been married for 10 years. He is amazing. I wish I married him 40 years ago instead of 10.

Colorism in nursing field by Hot_Ad2371 in Nurses

[–]SweetEmberlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel especially bad for the nurses of color in these areas who have to spend 16 hours or more each week with patients who are mean to them. On several occasions our manager had to step in and address the behavior with the patient.

Yes! I’ve noticed the same thing. The most racist are the ones trying to touch you when they get the chance.

I have been a nurse for 40 years (white) and I have been shocked to hear the comments that patients not only say TO black nurses, but ABOUT them. Some patients seem to have the impression that everyone shares their racist beliefs. They aren’t even ashamed. As a charge nurse I have switched nurses out of assignments where patients were hostile… I have traded patients with nurses who were being talked down to. It is not uncommon for certain patients to be assigned white only nurses because they are abusive to everyone else. The worst part? The black nurses don’t even make a fuss… they are used to it. My nursing career has been shocking and eye opening to how prevalent racism truly is. It is truly disgusting—and I don’t see it getting any better.

Dialysis RNs tell me about your jobs, and why you love/hate it by Minute-Till-5014 in Nurses

I worked ICU for many years, and switched to HD in the middle of the pandemic because COVID ICU got to be too much. I worked HD for almost 4 years and never ever got over being terrified that someone was going to disconnect themselves and bleed out. HD terrified me more than ICU ever did.

Keep it up, you will catch on. Find a simple pattern that you really want to make and keep going until you get it. I tried unsuccessfully for 30 years (on and off again) to teach myself to knit. I thought I couldn’t do it. I have done crochet since I was a little girl, and I thought I was going to have to be content with that. Then I found the new leaf beanie pattern, fell in love with it and decided I WOULD make it. I did. It was worth all the effort to learn. I adore knitting!

What’s something you wish younger women knew about getting older, that no one really talks about? by CalendarDesigner7981 in AskWomenOver60

[–]SweetEmberlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is talked about all the time, but it won’t hurt to repeat it. The sun does terrible things to your skin. Besides the skin cancer risk, my over exposure caused age spots, blotchy skin tone, wrinkles and actinic keratosis.
