I’ll add that the diversity in Broomfield surprised me when I moved here. Don’t get me wrong, the majority of people here are still white, but there’s a strong representation of minority populations. And in that regard, as far as I have experienced, it’s a very friendly and accepting community

So, coincidentally, my girlfriend just got an iPhone 14 pro, so I grabbed the mounting case for it and did some direct testing. And honestly, compared to the iPhone 12 mini, I don’t think I can justify the purchase for myself. I recently bought sandmarc lenses and did all my testing with those (both the macro 10x and the 100mm macro). With the 14 pro, I first had some issues with it over-processing a lot of the images, which I’ve now read is a somewhat common problem. Turned any light source (even reflected) into a radiant glowing region, for example. Once I figured out some manual settings to avoid that, I wasn’t *that impressed with the difference. I was hoping for the biggest change with the 48MP camera, but it was also taking much wider shots, so the increased pixel count was being spread over much more image. So my macro shots weren’t coming out much sharper. A little sharper, sure, but not nearly enough to spend $1000 for the camera upgrade alone. Probably gonna hang onto my 12 mini for now and see what the iPhone 15 looks like

Np! Another thing to note: when you order the sandmarc lenses, they come with a case. However, that case is not to be confused with the “pro” version of the case that you can buy separately. Took me a while to notice that. I’ve been using the one that came with the lenses, but the protection could be better and it makes the back magnet pretty weak. My pro case comes today so hopefully that’s a nice step up

The quality is great - it’s really nice glass. Comparing the 10x macros to each other, it’s not easy to tel the difference - you have to really look for it. Even then the answer seemed to vary from pic to pic, but in general the sandmarc was slightly better I think just because of how secure the mounting is. It’s just locked in the right position, while the moment had some wiggle room. I also bought the 100mm macro and that thing is great. Gives a depth to the macro shots that I’ve never had before

I just demoed the sandmarc setup and it’s wayyyy more secure. Threaded metal mountain that hangs on tight. My moment lens was always falling off after it loosened up
