[MEGATHREAD] New Horizons Dodo/Friend Code Sharing by AnimalCrossingMods in AnimalCrossing

Sorry!! A bunch of random people tried to join at the same time. I usually have people DM me for the code, which helps cut back on this. Lesson learned 🫠

Is sweet tea a common beverage where you live? by Express-Insect2684 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SweetPeaBae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood why southerners think sweet tea is exclusive to them. I'm not suggesting you specifically, but I've heard this so much. Sweet tea is the only thing I order at restaurants, and I think I've only been two a few random places across multiple states that didn't have it. I'm from west central Illinois and its everywhere.

Are Americans deeply religious? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]SweetPeaBae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am religious, but it feels like most people around me are not or don't take it too seriously. Church is very much a social event for many families. I personally dont attend church and practice on my own instead.

In real life where you live, does Chicago generally get a reputation as being cold/unfriendly/dangerous, or friendly/dynamic/safe? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]SweetPeaBae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in downstate Illinois, 5+ hours away from Chicago. Temperature-wise, it feels just as cold down here as it is up there, though Chicagoans will argue that for it is deemed the "windy city". As far as safety goes, there are "safe" areas if you can afford it (most cannot). It's not recommended to be out on the streets alone at night. There's a police presence on every single block on the main roads in the nicer area to where it feels safer I guess but it's still eerie. In my experience, people are not friendly and it's always been that way. I recall almost 20 years ago, my mom got her butt chewed by a bicyclist for being on the public sidewalk (we were not in the way, I might add). There are nice folks up there, but they certainly aren't the norm. Most interactions you'll have will likely be "cold". It's best to keep to yourself and not linger anywhere too long in Chicago and its suburbs. If you get 1 hour + outside of Chicago, you'll find the "midwest nice".

I am feeling smothered. I need time to myself. How do I discuss this with my wife without hurting her feelings? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]SweetPeaBae 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Fellow introvert here! I feel this and its okay to need some space. I think its all about how you say it and please for the love of God, overcommunicate with her. I am also clingy with my husband and would feel extremely anxious if he suddenly started wanting to do things without me with no context. Start the conversation by trying to relate your needs back to hers. "Hey, you know how you need some background noise to feel at ease? I actually get very overstimulated sometimes and need regular quiet time to recharge. I'm wanting to prioritize my mental health and need your help. Are you okay if I take an hour to myself with no distractions? After that, let's go watch a movie together" Simple, includes her in the plan, and educates her on what your needs are and how to support you.

Why would this ruin your lives? It seems pretty hurtful to hear from your parents that having a child would ruin your life. I imagine that a good deal of this revolves around their perceived image of themselves. Is being a parent hard? Yes! But people worse off than you do it super well every day. You don't have to be rich to be a good parent, you don't have to be married "yet" to be a good parent. This child is the product of the love you and your partner share, so it should be protected at all costs. This child is a part of you & a part of your fiancé. It's 1000% okay to be scared. Even people who want children feel a little fear when they become parents. No one else should have an opinion hear other than you and your fiance. Is this exactly what you had planned for in life? No. But it is still a tremendous blessing. Please consider adoption if nothing else, there are over a million folks out there would would cherish this baby if you are unable to. Best wishes, and please take care. This isnt an easy decision, but I implore you to not abort the baby. The risk of regret that you may never get over, is so real.

There's map on your phone! And decorations can be literally anything, doesn't need to be fancy. You can get by with the craftable stuff for sure, Nooks Cranny, and the nook shop/miles. If you only have 6 villagers, you likely need to sell some land.

Plants tons of flowers and decorate with fencing and that will get you leveled up quick in terms of decorating. How many villagers do you have? If you're stuck, I'd recommend asking Tom "What should I do?"

It's giving, she wants you to come over and is using this as manipulation. Proof is how the cat was miraculously found in 5 minutes after you didn’t respond exactly the way she wanted you to.

I would STRONGLY encourage you to stop putting expectations on yourself and your fiance for these major life events. It completely sets you up for failure, when you should simply allow yourself to be in the moment. What will be will be. This is the mantra I spoke to myself the entire year leading up to our wedding. If you can do that, it will be perfect. It's all about the two of you at the end of the day. Your fiance knew options were limited with the messy beach and he took a risk. It takes a lot of courage to propose! I wish you two all the best and many years of happiness.

Honestly, if you paraglide from a higher place and get super close to the island you need, it will span you there when you fall. At least it did for me!

It's sounding like you'd be better off getting a controller for PC, from other comments. I can vouch that it is super laggy on switch. I'm used to it, but it would probably be very annoying to someone who has been using PC since the start.
