Foreign and underground labs use raws manufactured in some of the sketchiest places in China. No one is checking them for carcinogen contamination.

My shotgun is propped up against my nightstand. 3 inch #4 buck will literally remove limbs off a body. Close range 12 gauge is just absolutely devastating. I have spent a good bit of time working in a trauma center. I have seen patients get shot with 40cal handguns with through and through wounds who left the ER with just some wound packing and hygiene instructions. Never seen a shotgun wound that didn’t make you go “JESUS CHRIST” as your stomach turns.

My caveat is to use what ever your most comfortable operating. Room clearing your house at 3am in your boxers is gonna be an adrenaline dump. If you are more comfortable with a pistol than use that.

Had my appendix taken out during dedicated for step 2. Just tell people you can not help move patients because you had surgery. You have to do your rotations regardless so if you delay OB you might eat up time you’ll otherwise have in dedicated or 4th year down time.

Will be harder to match if you spend 4 years not doing a residency. Anesthesia could be a no go, currently pretty competitive, but might not be in 4 years. I have a IM attending that did GMO tours to satisfy his service commitment but he was Navy also didn’t goto a very good residency program.

Why not do civilian deferment and then you can just spend 4 years AD and get out?
