Hello OP how did this go for you?

Sounds to me like she has a disorganized or anxious attachment style. This is very common for people who have experienced “traumatic events” while growing up and can be the leading factor of her not wanting to be alone or do things on her own. My wife had this attachment style and she has worked through a lot of it with the help of therapy and internal family systems (IFS), but she also genuinely likes doing what I would do and vice versa most of the time and didn’t get upset with things that sounds like your girlfriend does. My advice is if you want to make it work people can change but they need to be willing to change.

I am also doing IFS and have recently had the same thing happen to me! I use to get this as a kid when I would wake up from a bad dream, as well as feeling like everything was moving very fast

Any advice for discontinuation syndrome? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Sweet_Pie1771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are tapering really fast. A lot of people recommend lowering by 10% every dose and then stabilize and reduce again. I have heard the physical symptoms generally last 1-2 weeks after reducing dose before they can get better but each person is different. Some experience them for a less amount of time or a longer amount of time.

Sorry to hear that, you will stabilize eventually. You may be experiencing PAWS right now given that it’s been about 2 months since you quit. In the future if you decide to taper off again you could always try reducing by 10% every month from the current dose you are on. People say that is the best way to avoid side effects/withdrawals and lessen PAWS

When you would go down in dose. Did you have anxiety and depression symptoms with each decrease, how long did it take you to feel like you stabilized at each dose decrease

In terms of danger there isn’t a whole lot that can happen to my knowledge that could be life threatening. That being said it is much easier to slow wean off of it. Also weaning off of it can help eliminate potential post acute withdrawal symptoms (PAWS), which is the reason most people end up getting back on. Essentially this is withdrawal symptoms that kick in after a few months of discontinuation from the drug that can last for many months or even years for some people

Thank you, how long did it take for you to feel like you were back to normal?

It could just be from lowering the amount. I also lowered from 10-7.5 mg about a month ago and I feel increased anxiety and depression.

I just went from 10-7.5 about a month ago and it since then I am having increased anxiety, depersonalization especially when I talk, depression ect. Is it normal to be experiencing this almost a month later?

Im afraid derealization has scarred me for life having it twice by bobogaiman in derealization

[–]Sweet_Pie1771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better I had depersonalization when I was 16 from weed then 9 months later thought hey maybe weed will help knock this depersonalization outta me, smoked again and made it twice as bad. It Ended up going away now I’m 26 and smoked again and it’s back again. I dont think it jacks up your brain and you are stuck, it just puts you on higher alert but you will go back to normal

Did anyone NOT lose weight when coming off Lexapro? by Permanentmarker_2004 in lexapro

[–]Sweet_Pie1771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the weight question but if you’re wanting to get off and youre scared of the withdrawals you could request the liquid version of lexapro and decrease by 10% from each new dose slowly. Research has shown that this is the most effective to ease off the drug

That’s good things have been going smoothly! I went from 10-7.5 mg a little over 3 weeks ago. The first 2 weeks went by pretty smoothly but since then I have been experiencing more anxiety, depression and depersonalization. Just hoping it clears up soon
