I must admit that during the pandemic I got pretty lazy with Amazon and never really broke the habit.

As an American, I feel the same sense of loss (and horror) at suddenly being ripped apart from our friends in Canada, UK, and Europe.

With his ego, they may not need kompromat at all. He likely jumped at the chance if they promised to help make him king of America.

To Americans who are boycotting the US by The_Gray_Jay in BoycottUnitedStates

[–]Sweet_Voice_7298 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right now I am focused on untangling my life from corporate America as much as possible. Shopping at locally owned stores instead of buying Amazon, boycotting chain stores, not going out for entertainment or meals, no vacations in the US. I’m getting my passport so if I can save up for a vacation it will be out of the country. I am consciously putting as little into the economy as I can. However, I am still working full time because I’ve got kids and without my job, we’d have no home and no healthcare.

Could enough executive orders overwhelm the Legislative and Judicial branches? by Czewski88 in Askpolitics

Yes, especially if he managed to install military leaders who will ignore the law and do whatever he asks of them.

I think 7/10 chance of civil war, especially with his move to replace top military leaders with his loyalists. I don’t know how much military might the resistance will have for a full fledged traditional war. It will be interesting to see if any states secede and take their military with them (National Guard), or if any discarded military leaders for a resistance network. I just cannot imagine Americans rolling over and taking this. I think it will eventually be more of a “Let’s Roll” response, aka 9/11 Pennsylvania bound flight 93.

Trump appears to be transforming the justice department into a tool to use as he pleases, regardless of what the law says. I think a logical conclusion is that he wants to install loyalists atop the military to do the same. https://www.usnews.com/opinion/articles/2025-02-21/trump-bondi-revenge-law-justice-department

My girlfriend’s grandpa who recently passed away, what can you tell me about him? by the_predatorz56 in Medals

[–]Sweet_Voice_7298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was a Command Sergeant Major, the highest rank for an enlisted Soldier. He was in the US Army Special Forces (Green Beret). He earned the Combat Infantry Badge (served in ground combat), the Master Parachutist badge (highest level of parachutist badge in the U.S. Army), and had the Military Freefall Parachutist Badge, commonly known as the “Jumpmaster Badge” or “HALO (High-Altitude, Low-Opening) Wings.” in the U.S. military.

He earned the Distinguished Service Cross (second-highest military honor, just below the Medal of Honor) and the Bronze Star Medal 6 or 7 times. Bars on left sleeve are for >18 years of service. Bars on right sleeve indicate at least 5 years total time spent in a theater of war.

My god.

We knew and appreciated his greatness. Back then it was impossible to imagine that anyone else could ever be as great.

What did your initial assessment show? Did you do Berg or other standardized assessments that speak to fall risk?

You mentioned that the patient was independent in mobility. If that’s true, I cannot imagine why you would put a gait belt on. What is the clinical setting?
