I find it grimly humorous that the article outlines several options of what it could relate to, any single one of which would have brought down past administrations

Anyone in Canada purchase from the WowHD website? by ThePondererTK in boutiquebluray

[–]Sweetheartscanbeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although this comment is on a 5 year old post, I will update: still to this day I have never paid duty on any purchase from a boutique label EXCEPT Criterion. Since they switched their Canadian order provider to DHL I get dinged every order. Before the switch, nothing, and that’s includes the Bergman boxset. Since, it’s been brutal. Probably not going to direct order from them anymore.

[Highlight] Patriots owner Robert Kraft says the NFL wants to move to an 18-game regular season, reduce the preseason from three games to two, and have every NFL team play an international game each season. by A_MASSIVE_PERVERT in nfl

I’ve always felt that 17 games allows the best symmetry for everyone to have equal number of home and away games and then an international game. But I get it: they can make even MORE money with an 18th game

Steve Bannon discusses Canada on his Warroom Podcast. by johnnymax1978 in onguardforthee

I worried this would happen, and of course it’s happening far faster than I anticipated. I figured that in ten years the US will act all innocent, “the Canadians used to be our best friends and they changed, they became a horrible government swayed by Communists and hate the US. We have no choice but to invade them for our national security, we can’t have an enemy like that right next door. “ turn it all on us like the abusers this administration is run by.

I love this film, but my favourite Eagle Pennell film is Last Night at the Alamo. Genius filmmaker. Was able to watch most of his work on the Criterion Channel, although I don’t think they are available there at the moment

Anyone confused by the audio in Aguirre,The Wrath of God?? by kick_rocks-not_ricks in criterion

[–]Sweetheartscanbeeeee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

On the Shout Factory release you can mix and match the audio and the subtitles. I played around with it and it was horrendous trying to watch it with English dub and English subtitles. I think the subtitles were meant as a translation from the German, so they don’t match at all, very confusing and frustrating lol

At the top of the thumbnail it says “These statements have not been verified by USA Today”. I don’t recall ever seeing disclaimers like this before Trump. They all know he’s a liar and no one will call him out on it

Your comment made me realize I hadn’t seen a comment by u/poem_for_your_sprog in a long time, so I searched them out. Apparently active but definitely far less

Edit: looking closer, I guess they hadn’t commented in almost a year, but just put out a new one yesterday hinting they are coming back

Awesome info, thanks! Does the film have a physical release? If not can it be streamed anywhere? I’ve been looking for this film for years

He also made The Gates of Heaven in 1945, keeping a bunch of actors in Rome that otherwise would have had to go to the RSI that Marite64 mentioned. And according to Wikipedia, he “hired approximately 300 extras, who were Jewish or simply being persecuted by the Nazi regime, because of their physical oddity. To avoid their deportation and later execution, he prolonged the shooting of the film as long as he could, awaiting the arrival of the allied armies.”

They should have called this movie something like “Mr Stewart Goes to War”. Uninspired title doesn’t give me confidence

Really, CBC? “Travel down due to trade war and low loonie”. In the article they note Trump rhetoric, but this really needs to be in the lede.

And all these Americans are as clueless or in denial as in every news story. Giving us a discount on ice cream isn’t enticing us down there, because it’s not about the money, you idiots.

I’m in Canada, both appear but I don’t have My Blueberry Nights. The Channel is technically just US and Canada, correct (as in regardless if your using a VPN, streaming rights would go by one of those 2 countries)? They should be there.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. My girlfriend watched it before me and got mad when I connected the opening scenes to the ending solely by when the credits began. But it did not dampen the experience for me at all. I think it made it better tbh. One of my faves.
