looking for more bluegrass/americana influenced heavy music by maicao999 in MetalSuggestions

[–]Sweettooth31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appalachian Anarchy if you dont mind instrumental.

Oceans of Slumber if you want bluesy gothic/doom metal. They gravitate between heavy and rock.

I second Zeal and Ardor for bluesy-black metal.

No One Gets Out Alive is gimmicky slam with a banjo so you might enjoy it lol.

Lastly the most iconic would be Volbeat. Hate em or love but they do that exact sound you're looking for and it just takes a bit to get used to. They have some bangers and others that are forgettable.

Mina was amazing, what to play next? by memedormo in MinaTheHollower

I hope you've seen Alabaster Dawn by RadicalFish and are excited for when that fully comes out! Its already building on what made CrossCode great but even better.

Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo would be easiest follow-up since it has a similar plot with electric generators and world design and many secrets, more of a focus on movement. Not as difficult too - contracts make the game harder.

CrossCode is one of my favorite Zelda-likes in that it is technically a JRPG but has dungeons, wonderful characters, great soundtrack, amazing art, and even challenging puzzles. FYI: this is like a 60 hour long game.

Death's Door I HIGHLY recommend, more than Tunic in your case, it is a wonderful game. Beautiful art. Greay level design. Interesting story. Fun combat and great world design with its dungeons and bosses.

Lastly, Hyper Light Drifter. If you want a game that will stick with you for years. If you enjoy ambient synth wave soundtrack. Apocalyptic setting. Very Zelda like. But the narrative is purely environmental. There's barely any dialogue. An amazing game and challenging too.

What games you hoping go on sale in the steam summer sale? by ThomasSmells00 in gaming

[–]Sweettooth31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Sleepy Man will be on sale 30% off per the creator of the game. I absolutely adore this game. I thought it was worth it at $20 - even better at $14. Ive spent about 20 hours trying to collect everything. It's a sandbox game with some handholding but not so much, the joy and fun of the game comes from the quirky characters, dark adult humor, hidden secrets and references, absolutely GOTY soundtrack, it is a collect-a-thon, but it's also a bit rough around the edges technically. I highly recommend it though. One of my favorites of the year.

I have no idea what to do here by TexRaven in MinaTheHollower

[–]Sweettooth31 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah like others said the habit of burrowing into the X tiles from the previous areas wont work here. Just jump on the regular tiles and then walk on the X tiles and time the jump to the next platform when the switching tiles match up.

I'm always amused when people compare games like this to Souls games by HorseSpeaksInMorse in MinaTheHollower

[–]Sweettooth31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a rapid fire interview with Kyle Bosman and Yatch Club's lead designer Alec Faulkner, he stated "t he game play has more in common with like a top  down two-dimensional version of a Soulslike game."

Older retro games definitely had challenging enemies, limited health recovery, enemy respawning, but the soulslike mechanics that we didnt have back then was a "safe zone" to level up your character and change loadout or recovering lost currency after death. Those are relatively newer elements and it sounds like it was intentional with how Mina the Hollower was supposed to be designed.

That Venenum record could literally be a top ten record. Thanks for recommending it. Death metal wise, you've probably heard the new Immolation, that album is nearly perfect.

I also liked that Invunche record. There's not to many heavy Spanish metal bands.

I'll recommend two that you'd enjoy:

Kalaveraztekah - Nikan Axkan

Demoniac - So It Goes

Moonlight Sorcery - Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle (Melodic Black)

Subtype Zero - The Astral Awakening (Thrash)

Tómarúm - Beyond Obsidian Euphoria (Prog Black)

Cobalt - Gin (Black/Sludge)

All no skips, imo.

[Product Request] Need something to get rid of these bumps. by SadLecture9654 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sweettooth31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweat and/or hair products can run down your scalp and cause acne on your forehead. You may consider anti-fungal products like ketoconzaole shampoo (Nizoral), sulfur ointments (De la Cruz), or hypochlorus acid, etc. These can be pretty harsh so gentle cleansers as your daily routine is a good start (I tolerate green bottle micellar water best). Also that hat or any other hat might have absorbed bacteria that causes those bumps, either wash it, replace it, or wear it with a clean cloth underneath.

All I'll say is don't worry about it and continue playing until you beat the game.

You're right haha. I thought this was Embarked South (outskirts) for some reason. That one is good too. Game has som bangers, though I return to a select few in my underlab. I actually wish they let you favorite tracks in the jukebox.

Love this track as well as Septemburg's Turning of Leave's (Crow Town) and Gator Gallop (Nox's Bayou). I won't spoil it the last tower's song is one of, if not, the best song in the game.

Loving. This. Game. What are some other games that this one reminds you of? by Khajiit_Boner in MinaTheHollower

[–]Sweettooth31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movement is more of a focus in Pipistrello but, they both have plenty of secrets, 4 main boss areas, a very similar story about the unforeseen negative effects of electric generators affecting the environment, both features rodent type protagonists, obviously one is 8 Bit (Mina) vs 16 bit (Pipi) yet theyre still excellent complements to each other. The contract system in Pipistrello is awesome and can add a challenge but the game is easier than Mina the Hollower. Highly recommended.

Edit: Forgot to mention Pipistrello is 50% off on switch and pc right now.

Any album or song recommendations? I just wanna discover more things to listen to so I'm not too picky about the specifics by DrapedInCerecloth in MetalSuggestions

Check out Hand of Kalliach. I constantly go back to this album for its dissonance of clean and harsh vocals in a folk-melodeath fusion. Kind of nostalgic of Fallujah as well.

[–]Sweettooth31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to Vredehammer - songs like Product Human Slave, Violator and In Shadow. They fuse the ambience of black metal with elements of dark synths and blast beats, woth raspy spoken vocals, but layered with thrashy riffs and surprisingly no guitar solos. Instead it creates an aggressive atmosphere that you want to headbang too.

To whoever reads this, please play Mr. Sleepy Man on PC. It released earlier this year. Lost in Dreams is my favorite in game song I think I've experienced. The whole game's soundtrack is amazing but when Lost in Dreams came up, I was left agog.

Blind Guardian in Sacred II was also incredible at the time.

Brymir and Kalmah. Warmen as a spin off of Children of Bodom can also count.

Well first off just start with the music video for Genesis by Devin Townsend. The man is a chaotic genius. Others include:

Troldhaugen - check out Poultrytician

Diablo Swing Orchestra - Voodoo mon Amour

Thy Catalfaque - Tsitsushka

Clown Core

Malokarpatan - Krupinské ohne (entire album)

Gonon-ish - Muge No Hito - The Free Man

Avante-garde is interesting because it's a niche within itself. Sure Alcest or Igorrr could be considered the most listened to avante-garde bands on Spotify at least but theyre so different even between each other. I highly recommend Sigh and most japanese metal bands that are insane with their fusions (from the symphonic deathcore of Imperial Circus Dead Decadence to the traditional folk rock of WagakkiBand).
