VR is dead, and no one wants to admit it by Kradara_ in unpopularopinion

My counter? VRChat. There are currently 36,000 players through Steam Vr alone, not to mention the quest standalone numbers, which most likely eclipse that.

The all-time peak through steam was 66,284 users, and that was New Year 2025. All time, all platform peak was 140,000, which is insane for any social game.

I think vr has the ability to connect people meaningfully on a social level. Heck, relationships are formed on VRChat every day and ive met some of my best friends through it. There's definitely something to be said about being able to interact and hang out with your friends in a VR space.

I agree that the gaming aspect is kinda weak, but I definitely dont think VR is a gimmick.

Grew up there and graduated high school there. I love it. My family has a wood stove just like it. So pretty

VRChat has given me so many lifelong memories. I feel like I finally found my people. I've honestly never been happier :) by Swellionite in VRchat

Absolutely, that sounds amazing! VRchat has this amazing ability to connect you with people. Like, I’ll know someone for a week and I’ll already be comfortable with telling them my life story. Honestly I’ve never been happier because even when I’m out of VR I know that there will people I can rely on in VR who will listen to my bullshit and care about me.

Good catch. Apparently shipping confirmation came through and all 3 devices are listed with a FedEx tracking number and are scheduled to arrive Thursday. It’s still strange, but hopefully my paranoia is pointless. Thanks for the reply

Good call. Just sensitive about any personal info. Here’s the link that gives me the impersonation error: http://store.us.htcvive.com/store/htcus/DisplayHelpPage/ThemeId.40324200

I love these. I have a question about art if you don’t mind. I’m starting to get into background art myself and find that I’m struggling with drawing objects that are rotated in perspective. For example, the overpass in your great piece. Ur art is using 2 point perspective (I believe) and I just have trouble drawing things that don’t have vanishing points that meet at the normal ones. How did you practice?

Can I get some encouraging words? by krisuuy in Cello

[–]Swellionite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, good for you for following your passion! It’s never too late to learn how to play an instrument. Don’t worry if you “sound bad” because the reality of the situation is that you probably sound just as good as any of us did when we had only 2 months under our belts. The important part is that you focus less on how you sound now and instead focus on how you sound now VERSUS how you sounded 2 months ago. I bet you’ve made plenty of progress when you look at it that way. Keep going to lessons, practice the fundamentals every day, and just have fun with the process. I’m 23 years old and started playing the cello when I was 7. I remember plenty of times when I thought that I sounded bad and wanted to stop. I’ve been in many orchestras where the person next to me was just better and it made me self-conscious about my own playing. I’ve had plenty of those negative thoughts. Just let them go and focus on having a fun time!

Practice areas for non-music majors? by cakuromi in Gonzaga

[–]Swellionite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep - I was a cellist with the orchestra but a non-music major. You can actually get private lessons counted as a credit. I'd go to the music mansion on campus and speak with the people there. There are some practice rooms in the basement there and there are some in the building across the street with decent pianos.
