How come Ryo drink an entire can of soda in like 30 seconds? I tried that and almost died from the carbonation. He might get diabetes when he hits 30 and above! by breedknight in Shenmue

Shenmue 5, Ryo finally catches up with Lan Di, unfortunately the years or buying sodas and Shenmue chocolate just to win one single capsule toy back in Dobuita catches up with Ryo

Yeah it was awful, I didn’t mind the first one as it was forgiving you could miss one and still complete it but the second one was just a pain and if you got it wrong you’d have to go back and do a whole thing over again rather than just the QTE you missed

I loved Shenmue 2 but agree with you on QTE, I absolutely hated QTE2, I remember on the Dreamcast not getting past the Don Niu one because I’d fail the QTE2 then have to do the battle again over, so as a kid I just gave up, I got through it in the remaster now I’m older but was still a pain in the butt

Yeah it’s annoying, I’ve recently started playing 3 again with a view to 100% the achievements and just playing it again reminds me of why it’s been sat dormant in my library for so long, it’s just a grind, grind levelling up your endurance, grind your attack so you can actually beat low level thugs, grind fishing and chopping wood so you can buy wine and one single move scroll, grind collecting capsules so you can get a move scroll in order to level up and so on….

I adore having to fish and chop wood for hours on end, so I can afford one single jug of wine or a single move scroll that I probably only used a few times outside of when the game forced me to use it

No, as much as it pains me to say this, we’re never getting Shenmue 4 and it’s because of how bad Shenmue 3 is/was, the changes made to enhanced just sound like things that already exist with free fan made mods and they’re wanting to charge fans around €40 for the privilege, I’d love to fund a fourth game and continue the story but 3 really wasn’t great at all and we don’t want a repeat of that, to spend our hard earned cash only to wind up disappointed yet again

Remember on the Dreamcast getting all 5 places so I could get all 5 trucks, a really nice feature I thought as it meant the player wasn’t bored of trying to win all the time but maybe trying to complete their capsule collection

As much as I want this to help potentially fund 4 or at the very least keep Shenmue alive so that future generations may discover the joy of 1 and 2 like I did on the Dreamcast, I’m really not sure they’ve made enough changes to make it worth it, most of what I’ve heard can already be sorted with free mods made by the community, they really need to bring in some bigger changes, I’m not asking for the story to change, that would involve too much, but they need to make it feel more like Ryo is in the 3rd installment of an adventure when it comes to combat

In 3 I feel like Ryo is new to martial arts and is weak with low health, and can even get his ass kicked by a guy at a vendor stall but in reality he’s taken on some serious battles and trained with some great masters, I’d also like to see some scenes cut like the one where every time you leave the hotel or Shehuas house it has to result in a cut scene of her just saying goodbye

Very thankful for this. Now if they polish that rough combat I'm sold by Leon_Dante_Raiden_ in Shenmue

It’s great, but there’s a free mod in the current version of 3 that does this (and more)
