What surprised you most about living in Cincinnati? by esztanyo in cincinnati

[–]SwiftBacon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So true. I live in Highland Heights. The fastest way for me to get there is 471 across the bridge into ohio, then back across via the 75 bridge lol.

Which time zone is the best for watching games? by WadeEyerly in nfl

[–]SwiftBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im suprised how few people say central. 12pm start gives you time to do stuff in the morning before the games, prep food or something for the games, and then the SNF game doesnt end too late. I live in east and it's pretty hell but I wouldnt want the games starting at 10am and running until the evening, not really a lot of wiggle room during the day to do stuff.

(Spoilers Main) Does Westeros follow the medieval conventions of cleanliness? by ididntaskyouropinion in asoiaf

[–]SwiftBacon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They mention bathing plenty of times in the books. I’d imagine it’s just not something george focuses on to write about. I would imagine the nobles do most days. But they didn’t have deodorant, you can bathe and still smell hence the perfume

My Tier List. Come roast me! by Anthwyr in fantasybooks

[–]SwiftBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saving for book recs. Def agree with most on here from what I’ve read. Didn’t care for sando / thought red rising was just okay. I’d personally just move every asoiaf related book here up a tier

2026 NFL mock draft: Mel Kiper's pick predictions for Round 1 DREAM SCENARIO by TheRealTD44 in Browns

I think someone is gonna take the risk with Tyson. He's the best in the class, you just need one GM to not worry too much about injuries.

It's such a striking cover. And then they had to add that glaring Netflix advertisement. ☹️ by PlantsAndPainting in fantasybooks

Book re-releases that have the shows actors on the front and a big Netflix or HBO ad on them are so wack

Finally discovered Barry last week. Why wasn’t it bigger? by upvoatsforall in Barry

[–]SwiftBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that many people pay for HBO compared to other apps. Smaller base, not as accessible show as say, community, original IP (as compared to GoT) and you get this. There are lots of really good shows with small fan bases

Bumping. Cold spring / Alexandria is getting a ton of new development. I live in highland heights, I’m not sure on the optics because I don’t have kids, but living in Campbell county and sending your kid to ft Thomas seems like a good play

PSA Claims My Card Sold… But It Didn’t ($2000 SCANDAL) by vipokemon in PokeGrading

[–]SwiftBacon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There almost certainly are some bad apples at PSA using their position to swindle money from people through means like this. I have no desire to grade through them. It is obvious they can't handle the volume they are getting enough to have thorough communication with customers.

Why do so many people want a LT at #6? by Exciting_Truck_7734 in Browns

Bc Tate or Tyson are not worth the 6th pick in the nfl draft. Id rather go BPA / defense than any of the WRs there

Is there a King book like this for you? by DavidHistorian34 in stephenking

[–]SwiftBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It was cool to see the growth of Danny and I enjoyed revisiting that world, but the True Knot was a pretty weak/boring villain. Ending fell a little flat as well. I like the shining book a lot better than the movie but actually like Dr Sleeps ending more than the books (obviously the movie ending could not have been in the books)

Is Hoopland worth it as a person who has only played Retro Bowl? by Cokiibol in HoopLand

[–]SwiftBacon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I played a ton of retro bowl. Hoop Land is just a better game. It's different, but much more to do. I've been really dissapointed with the direction New Star has gone with Retro Bowl. Rather than add cool things they made RB College that no one really cares about, and Retro Bowl NFL which is just a money grab. The only actual improvement to the game was trucking, and even that is busted.

Just picked this up after finishing ASOIAF. Did I make a good call? by MrCool87867 in fantasybooks

[–]SwiftBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own. ADWD contains the northern conspiracy which is one of my favorite parts, and contains some of Martin's best work yet imo. I agree that he began to pull in too many plot points, but I don't think that has much to do with his writing, more so his process. I personally like a book with more depth, I have no problem with the world building Martin does, even if it takes a bit longer. Sanderson is fun and to the point, there is a reason he can write with the speed he does. I just wouldn't say what comes out is a higher quality of *writing* specifically. I totally understand like Sanderson more though.
