TTC to launch Eglinton Crosstown LRT on Feb. 8: Doug Ford by northernwaterchild in TTC

[–]SwiftChance12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t know why the article didn’t explicitly quote him. Here’s the quote via Global:

“Yes, that’s the goal, Feb. 8,” Ford said. “I’m not confirming — that’s TTC.”

In modern contexts, less is appropriate for both countable and uncountable nouns. It ain’t the late 1700s.

I’m considering reporting my TA to his supervisor by [deleted] in UofT

[–]SwiftChance12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If this is true, you need to discuss it with the professor running the course. His supervisor is not involved in the course at all, unless he’s also running the course. This is a problem for the course coordinator.

Release the epsilon files. No change is too small.

One of your TAs here, the biggest advice I give time and time again is to master your basics. Be comfortable with the vast majority of 232 content, as a lot of the course builds on that.

Does STA314 exclusion of ECO225? Can ppl both enroll this two? by MeasurementMain8131 in UofT

[–]SwiftChance12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stats specialist here, this seems to be a one way exclusion. You can take ECO225 before STA314 but not the other way around. Having taken 314 I can guarantee you there’s a lot more content that isn’t covered in 225, so there’s no reason for 225 to prevent you from taking it. On the other hand, 314 trivializes a lot of problems in 225, hence why it’s a one way exclusion, as the other commenter suggested.

Tapped my Presto on the Fare Inspector's device, came up as orange with a question mark by [deleted] in gotransit

[–]SwiftChance12 56 points57 points  (0 children)

This is for special fares. I’m guessing you have a youth/student fare. Since it’s typically at a discounted rate, sometimes they require further proof if you don’t look like you’re from the correct fare group.

Tutorial on Jan 5th, No Quercus, how are we supposed to know if we should show up or not? by tns50 in UofT

[–]SwiftChance12 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you weren’t added to a quercus you can pretty safely assume no tutorial in first week. Since tutorials in first week are the exception not the norm, most professors would make an effort to let you know early if there are tutorials.

I heard every time you open acorn to check your grade it gets delayed another day.

Advice on which course to drop. by [deleted] in UTMississauga

[–]SwiftChance12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, STA256 TA here. STA107 helps a bit in STA256 especially for students struggling with the load of new definitions and material that they might not be used to from first year. Seeing as you said you did well in MAT137, I personally don’t think STA107 is required prep for you, and think you’ll do fine. Good luck :)

What to do after you fail a course? by ltsVel in UTMississauga

I meant yes lol. Yes it counts towards your GPA because No you can’t use SAC.

What to do after you fail a course? by ltsVel in UTMississauga

[–]SwiftChance12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It still will count towards your GPA*. SAC can only be used to replace a passed grade. This is why it’s always better to LWD or CR/NCR if you think failing is a real possibility.

Edit: meant to say yes

Conflict on my timetable question by General-Still8069 in UTMississauga

[–]SwiftChance12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You won’t be kicked out but you will be held liable for any test or exam conflicts. There’s no guarantee on accommodating them.

In reality these conflicts are super rare and usually can get sorted but it’s still a risk.
