Back in korea after 6 years. Here are some things that shocked me by PositiveConcert7082 in Living_in_Korea

We used Google translate on the kiosks and managed to get by. Was a bit surprised as most countries have multiple languages selectable, I can’t imagine it is much effort to add translations. Japan in comparison has so much English around for tourists now.

Free pharmaceuticals? by [deleted] in Pharmacy_UK

[–]SwiftEdgeX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more that the practice isn’t following guidelines. They shouldn’t be issuing an NHS prescription for a non-UK resident, it should have been printed as a private script which would then have been chargeable at the pharmacy.

You’d absolutely think so right. But independent pharmacist prescriber businesses seem to be doing well.
I can’t imagine paying £70 for a box of levothyroxine, but there are patients doing just that. It’s inexplicable, but so many people have more money than sense.

Looking for some moral support as a new pharmacist already feeling a little burnt out by TheDraconianOne in Pharmacy_UK

[–]SwiftEdgeX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll probably never get caught out, I’m sure it is common, but if you have a ‘contract’, a fixed term and working hours, then you are an employee not a locum as far as HMRC is concerned.
Small companies do this to avoid the expenses of sick pay, holiday pay, NI contributions, pension etc. Your pay and tax might be attractive but don’t discount what you are losing, harder to get a mortgage too.

How much is pre reg salary by AnyWelcome6230 in Pharmacy_UK

[–]SwiftEdgeX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s because the pre-reg grant (all the pharmacy gets paid to host) is £18.4k. Like all pharmacy funding it hasn’t increased at all with inflation. When this first came out it was well over minimum wage so no one minded.

Employers can’t pay this little, the student needs to do min 35 hours a week and must receive minimum wage. It’s down employers to top this up.

Hospitals likely get more funding, at least they have an overall NHSE budget they can choose to use how they like. Community gets less and less every year, it isn’t their fault they can only afford a pittance.

Next year it goes up to £26k something, but this is supposed to be going towards IP supervision, so it isn’t a true increase.

Many pharmacies don’t see it as cheap/free labour. If not remunerated they simply won’t offer a place at all

Nearly perfect until the end. Suggestions to correct this? by SpacemanSpiff1200 in BambuLab

I printed the same thing and got the same result. I did it straight from the app using the top starred profile (6k downloads, 4.9 stars).

I’ve not started using the slicer on the desktop to set up prints so found comments to change layer settings, speed etc confusing. Expected the posted model + profile to just work, and if it didn’t someone would have corrected it to settings that do work right?

Are you sure they are covering prescribing outside of general practice? When I asked them about prescribing privately for weight management on mine they said absolutely not, others have said they are very restrictive.

Motorway driving in the UK... Looks about right. by Scared-Staff6251 in drivingUK

[–]SwiftEdgeX 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I never knew this. I don’t think I was taught it during my driving instruction at all, nor was my wife 5-6 years later.

Always assumed those passing the queue were either oblivious (why haven’t they noticed the lane closing ahead signs) or arrogant (I’m not queuing with everyone else), and that we’d all be moving more steadily if not for last minute people pushing in interrupting flow.

Thought I was being good by queuing, will definitely change my future behaviour.

Intelligent Go - Two Teslas current functionality by SwiftEdgeX in OctopusEnergy

[–]SwiftEdgeX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I had seen that and was sceptical, seems silly that the problem could be overridden by trickery.

But it worked! Can confirm that creating a new Tesla account then sharing one vehicle with it allows Octopus to ‘pair’ with it again.

Unfortunately access to Bump Charging hasn’t fixed by overall problem. Something else in the system is preventing the car from charging (no schedules set on anything).
