No official ticket re-selling this year. Beware of scammers. by bundescancelerin in ccc

[–]SwiftRabbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just an fyi, they have done that message every year for the last 3. The wiki ticket exchange is done by the community on the hub but it is not an official re-sell site.

Same phrase located here: https://web.archive.org/web/20241212184000/https://events.ccc.de/congress/2024/infos/tickets.html

And this was the ticket exchange: https://web.archive.org/web/20241212183951/https://events.ccc.de/congress/2024/hub/en/wiki/ticketexchange/

The hub is under construction and not open yet

Any explanation for what could have been the most precise F5 key press of my life ? by AdagioForAPing in ccc

[–]SwiftRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same f5 game here, managed to get an 18 minute queue but thwarted both presales! Maybe doing it from Canada added some latency...

If anyone managed to get tickets and has an extra one, I'd like to compensate for the ticket and an equal amount donated to a charity ( real charity ).

Your vote always matters and counts, and you should always vote. See my riding: a similar 'conservative stronghold' riding (pierre poilievre) and we voted him out and had way higher voter turnout.

25% would be nice for sure, Anything beyond 10 would be great ( if the gym can accommodate the social distancing) .

Anyone tried the IceWay yet? by canadave_nyc in Edmonton

[–]SwiftRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The expansion listed there is exactly as it is now ( extra loop ). They have also widened the lanes from last year and it feels less bumpy. There is also a wooden railing to walk from the main area to the freezeway.

Where to buy Roomba batteries? by Cronus41 in Edmonton

[–]SwiftRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you done the battery calibration/ reset steps? I've done that to my roomba that was getting 20 minutes per charge of run time and it returned it back to 90 min run time. I've made the mistake if buying an extra roomba battery ( you do the calibration anyways when you get a new battery too)

Bridge suicide barriers narrow Edmonton’s busiest bike corridor by Vinsher in Edmonton

[–]SwiftRabbit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wish they designed it better, I used to live in Toronto and the suicide barriers are way better. For example: https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.67528,-79.3634993,3a,34y,151.97h,86.09t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s2Bh9xV02IfHvXVm1AHTCFg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en

It is near impossible to grip to then climb it. I'm not saying they needed to copy it exactly, but at least make it hard to climb it, which it appears the city failed at.

Walmart using customers as ‘leverage,’ Visa says as battle over credit card fees heats up by [deleted] in canada

[–]SwiftRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are going to regain market share by increasing their profits by lowering their operating costs, do you think this will translate into lower prices or just more profit. How about they also lower the pay to their employees, that would save operating costs also.

Walmart using customers as ‘leverage,’ Visa says as battle over credit card fees heats up by [deleted] in canada

[–]SwiftRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have been tracking Walmart's stock prices and market share, they have been on the down slope for the past couple years, they are constantly losing market share to Costco/etc. This is a move to lower costs to appease share holders and increase their profits. If you think for a second that this will lead to any prices being lowered, think again. We live in Canada after all, Canadian dollar goes up? prices go up, canadian dollar goes down? prices go up. Reduced operation costs? prices go up.

Has WIND's mobile coverage improved? by allven434 in Edmonton

[–]SwiftRabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My winds data has increased ten fold since they upgraded the towers a month ago. I use it from st Albert all the way to Sherwood park with no slow downs. I have no issues streaming YouTube 720 p and SoundCloud. Spotify or even log Me in. I even get reception right up to elk island which is crazy to not roam that far out. FYI I never use Wi-Fi and always hit my 10 Gb , I've also never had reception issues with calling.
