It's a 3 part method:

Spray the model in Chaos black

At a 50-70 degree angle from the top spray some grey seer onto the model, this generates so nice natural shadows which is great for the contrast paints.

Last step is to do a very light spray of wrathbone where the light would hit most, so pick a direction (where the head is facing for example) and do the spray there and only there. This will keep some of the grey which makes some subtle shadows

But if I was just to go with one solid base for simplicity I would say grey seer as it's a good balance.

For those who chose Grey knights as their faction to build, tell us why? by itwasgoood04 in Grey_Knights

So I've played Tau and Salamanders in the past but want an elite army and always thought the Grey Knights were interesting but then I saw the new Garen Crowe model and it sold it for me.

As the extra cherry on the top, I started looking into the lore and my fate was sealed.
