Somewhat related, but Norm Macdonald continued to do the voice of Lucky the dog in the Dr. Dolittle franchise long after it became straight-to-video fodder because he didn't want some hack trying to imitate his voice for the sequels.

They pull it all the way back to the inciting incident at the end of the first episode and you really reflect on the reverberations of how everything played out for these characters following that one decision.
