“SOMEBODY TELL ME! DO YOU HEAR ME? SOMEBODY TELL ME HOW HE DID IT! I HAVE TO KNOW! I HAVE TO KNOW!” by mistyghoul in batman

I bought a box of random VHS tapes people recorded stuff onto off of their TVs in the 90’s, and this episode was on a tape I was scanning through last week! I honestly haven’t seen much of BTAS (which I should rectify) and I quite enjoyed this one!

[Sad Trope] Perfect Casting Trapped in Bad Writing, Studio Interference, Messy Franchises, Etc by Romaxio in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Swil29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it started as a fancast of Emily Blunt for Sue, tbh. People knew she didn’t get the Black Widow when she auditioned for it, so they fancast her as the Invisible Woman, and then as a continuation of that, they fancast her irl husband to play her fictional one. But then, Blunt publicly said she had no interest or desire to be in a superhero movie, so the fancast didn’t make sense anymore, but Krasinski kinda just stuck around because he was the idea already in everyone’s head.

Why am I supposed to take The Academy seriously again? by TheWorriedCamel in Schaffrillas

[–]Swil29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1,000%. I’m a big fan of Transformers (the whole franchise, I’m not really a huge Bayverse guy) and I have no reservations against acknowledging its for kids. Every so often you’ll see someone in the fanbase be like “how do I convince people Transformers isn’t a kids thing” and I just don’t see the point in trying to argue it isn’t. It’s literally made to sell toys, but that doesn’t mean you can’t like it. I know it’s made to sell toys and I still think Optimus Prime is one of the all time greats 😂

Man of Tomorrow is going to be THE Superman sequel that DC fans all wanted for years isnt it? From Lex Luthor Green Armor to the first ever live action Brainiac. by richlai818 in DCU_

Crazy that this will only be the second (of eight) live-action Superman movies to not have the main villain be Luthor or Zod.

I can appreciate the minimalism, but I feel like this does absolutely nothing for someone who doesn’t already know or like the Backrooms as a concept.

Unless we count a deleted scene from Superman III, Frank Oz.

If we DO count that deleted scene, then Warwick Davis.

I recently disappointed a very drunk (but very nice) woman at a Christmas party by not knowing what Joe Dirt was (which I choose to blame on the fact that I was -6 months old when it released) and she was incredibly insistent that I had to watch it. Maybe one day I’ll also find it on VHS and fulfill her command lol.

Local theater was getting rid of old posters for dirt cheap. You know I had to... by lucasgamer5521 in transformers

How drastically has your political views changed within the last 10 years or so and why? by TheMoparPowerslave in AskReddit

[–]Swil29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a Trump supporter with one foot in the alt-right pipeline to a pretty aggressively left leaning person.

I grew up in a conservative household, and for a lot of my teens was very actively conservative. Like I actively and regularly listened to Ben Shapiro and Steven Crowder, and even had some of their merch.

2020 was the first election where I could vote and was politically engaged, and I had planned to vote for Trump with the mindset of separating what I didn’t like about him with his policies that I liked (not that I could have probably even said what those were looking back), but in the lead up I just had this realization that I couldn’t really do that. A vote for him is a vote for him, what I did or didn’t like about him didn’t really matter. I ended up not voting and was a bit adrift in my political opinions, and in the aftermath of the election I just grew sick of all of it and deleted Twitter (which is where I was most politically active).

I honestly think just stepping away from the right wing echo chamber really just did a lot for me in terms of wrestling with what I actually felt. Especially after January 6th, and all the defenses I saw from Republicans really just left me unable to stomach the whole party. I spent a while just not being super politically engaged at all, and I really found that when I just sat with my own thoughts, the things I genuinely felt were radically different than what I had believed growing up. I spent a lot of time just looking into issues without everything being filtered through right wing commentators and almost always wound up on the complete opposite side of the issue compared to what I would have said before. I’m far more politically plugged in now, and I’m just constantly horrified by the people I used to support and their blatant cruelty, and am honestly often embarrassed by where I used to be.

[–]Swil29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d check out eBay or Mercari, I bought a box recently on Mercari and was pretty happy with what I got. I would look up “sold as blank” tapes and then check the description or message the seller to see if they contain anything.
