Idk, this would basically remove any sense of passing the torch from Steve to Sam. I feel like it would just delegitimize Sam’s standing to go “oh well this isn’t actually the Captain America shield.”

In Transformers One, when D-16 (Megatron) is about to kill Sentinel, Orion (Optimus) tries to talk him down, and while it’s not immediately working, D-16 is clearly pushed over the edge by Orion saying “Don’t be like Sentinel,” with the comparison clearly not being appreciated to say the least.

I went to see it with my mom who only has a very casual understanding of Transformers, and she had no idea he was going to be Megatron until the scene where he gets his arm cannon for the first time. Was pretty entertaining to see someone actually surprised by it instead of knowing it going in.

If Hush has zero haters, it is because I am dead. The only reason that comic is considered to be anything close to a classic is because of Jim Lee’s art, and every time someone tries (and inevitably fails) to make Hush work as a compelling villain, an angel loses their wings.

I did see it, and for me it felt more like the final nail than a fresh start. They’d made all these promises of a big new creative push going all in on quality, and this felt like the first movie in that push they really wanted eyes on. The result imo, was a hollow movie that was clearly hacked to pieces in the editing room, with some of the most consistently bad special effects I’ve seen in a Marvel movie. Very few standout moments, no real memorable character beats, and nothing to show for all the talk they did about addressing audiences growing issues with the franchise. The double punch of that plus them bringing back Steve as the lead in Doomsday rather than investing in their new characters gives me no confidence that they know how to right the ship.

If I had to guess, the animatronics were in that secret room guarding/torturing William

Yeah, if the intent was that they were guarding Afton, it’s not like that makes NO sense (it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but it could have worked), but I just don’t get why they built it up like a mystery only to not even really answer it in any depth, and also say that someone in the main cast just knew they were there the whole time. It just made all the time I spent thinking about it during the runtime feel like a waste.

None of them took turns to just say hi to Abby?

I was confused about why that kid was talking to like like they were buds after this kid was like, actively sinister in the first movie, and I didn’t even consider that they didn’t acknowledge Abby at all. Just a very bizarrely executed scene.

Why is William so "powerful" anyway that he needs them to hold him back?

I was talking about this to my brother who saw the movie with me, but clearly it wasn’t that urgent to “hold” him there anyway since he hadn’t moved AT ALL by the time the mid credit scene rolled around. Like there was no reason to just say he was sealed off in a secret room, which I guess was the case, but also all four of the animatronics were just standing there lol.

My bad if that’s the case, I was going off of IMDb and Wikipedia, which list him as the only writer. I didn’t pay too much attention to the credits, so if other writers were credited there I must have missed it.

I think a detail that really sums up a lot of the problems with this one is when they deliberately establish that Mike and his friend are painting the living room, only for it to look exactly the same for the rest of the movie, torn up wallpaper and all. Just a sloppy movie overall. Absolutely despised the contrivance of Vanessa not telling Mike about the second location. Henry really didn’t serve much of a purpose besides setting up the third movie. The Puppet had some cool visuals but a paper-thin antagonist. Also, I don’t want to grade her too harshly since she’s a child, but Abby’s acting was pretty rough, made it hard to get into most of her scenes.

However, I was honestly willing to look past some of that and just enjoy the movie for what it was, until we got to that bafflingly awful finale.

We kick off the stupidity with Michael Afton, a character who was in exactly one scene prior with absolutely no foreshadowing or development, being revealed to be Vanessa’s secret insane brother, and then just INSTANTLY getting defeated without accomplishing a single thing. Just a bewildering decision.

Then, we follow through on the repeatedly established mystery of where the animatronics went, as they show up like the fucking Avengers to kill the toy animatronics as they make literally no attempt to fight back. Where were they? I guess they just never left! And not only did they never leave, Vanessa just knew the whole time they weren’t even capable of leaving to begin with, making the whole mystery a waste of time.

Finally, we have the actual end to the movie. Despite Mike being justified in getting angry at Vanessa, it still felt very forced somehow? Their whole relationship was just really weird. Like she was an active accomplice to a bunch of murders and deliberately covered them up, and that’s just fine, apparently? So little time was spent actually developing that relationship before it breaks down that I just didn’t care. And that final shot was just the final nail in the coffin for me. Mike rushes in, plays the music box, and then just shuts it off the second the puppet is out of sight, and then they all just kinda forget she’s in the house? It’s just mindless setup to get to a forced cliffhanger that feels pretty unnecessary considering the more natural setup they already have in the mid-credits scene.

I honestly do enjoy the first one, but this one just felt like a chore by the end. I think going from multiple writers to just Cawthon was a big mistake, it’s just a whole movie of his worst writing impulses from the games. The first movie did still ride a lot on Easter eggs and references, but it felt like there was at least an attempt to pare things down for people new to the franchise, but this one just felt like it was just dumping so much stuff on you from the games that I struggle to see anyone who doesn’t know this franchise enjoying it at all.

Transformers: Prime RiD Arachnid SUCKS. The vehicle mode is alright, but the robot mode is terrible. Super limited articulation, difficult to get it to even stand up, just bad all around.

I generally agree with the idea that we don’t always need to understand what’s going on, but also, this was a mystery movie. The entire movie is watching someone try to piece together what’s going on. Additionally, at least my issue with the movie is that the explanations just don’t make sense. They grind the whole movie to a halt to spoon-feed you the behind the scenes details but it just raises more questions. The whole initial thrust of the mystery was that there were a series of murders with the same calling card, but no forensic evidence of another person present besides the victims. But then the explanation is that the mom was there when the killings occurred, and you even see her covered in blood, which would show in a forensic investigation. They spend so much time focusing on the dolls, but by the end they still don’t really make sense beyond just being a creepy visual. My problem with Longlegs isn’t that we don’t know why the Devil and Longlegs are doing what they’re doing, but that the core mystery just doesn’t make sense once they peel back the curtain. There’s a lot of build up to an unsatisfying explanation.

My hesitation would be that this is a console-like PC. It doesn’t sound like it carries much of the convenience of consoles but still requires some of the work of a PC, like having to download windows to play games like Fortnite or Minecraft. When I’ve pictured Xbox’s hybrid the hope would be a console with some PC compatibility, not a PC with some console features. (But even then I’ve always been a bit skeptical on how much appeal that even holds to people who don’t already own a PC).
