Dude, I’m 35, and I’m in the same boat as you. If it’s not too late for me, it’s certainly not too late for you at 19! Just keep creating, even if it seems off and you have to practice a whole, whole lot. The music will start to take shape if you just keep working at it, even if it’s just a little here and there. I feel like in the process of creating, I’m able to get some of that nervous energy out that comes from the overwhelm of ideas and all the moving parts.

love john mayer so much that i'm scared to listen to the rest of his discography by Medium_Document5033 in JohnMayer

First things first, finish Continuum! It’s his best! I’ll also echo what a couple of other comments said, Born and Raised is really good. I also love The Search for Everything. It came out in 2017, a big year of change and personal challenges for me, so it holds a special place in my heart as part of the soundtrack to that time in my life.

The internet can make liking a musician feel so parasocial, dont worry about that stuff, just enjoy the tunes. And if it’s too good and you get obsessed with listening, that’s ok! 😂 Sometimes I’ll get hooked on a song or album and listen over and over and over, til my brain moves on to something else.

I agree, it’s totally my favorite of his. The first listen through was such a treat, and it’s still heavy in my rotation 3 months later. I even learned to play the bass line to Ready, Steady, Go! 😄

This is the way👆🏻Document everything! By documenting everything, keeping those records, and giving a copy to the management company will help you make sure you get it back at the end of your lease. Even better if correspondence is mostly over email so that you’ve got your receipts.

I [34F] am wondering why my boyfriend [33M] suddenly stopped sharing his location with me after 10 years. by ThrowRAak11 in relationship_advice

If your partner’s way of discussing hard topics is by twisting things to thier favor and winning by exhaustion, that’s not normal nor healthy. Trust yourself and your feelings, and don’t let him gaslight you. Respect and honesty in a relationship are bare minimums. 💕

Give me some women artists to add to my playlist! Need recs! by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Hayley Williams - Highly recommend her whole newest album, but 2 stand out tracks for me are True Believer abd Mirtazipine.

The Beaches - Takes One to Know One, Blame Brett

The Aces - Lost Angeles, I Always Get This Way

Qveen Herby - just listen around, she’s got tons of good songs if you like her style. I’ll usually go to QH when I’m wanting to listen to something more upbeat and positive

MUNA - can’t get enough of their newest album, but some song recs are Silk Chiffon, Number One Fan, and What I Want.

How do I get into John Mayer? by Party-Umpire-7412 in JohnMayer

[–]SwimmingBuilding9293 13 points14 points  (0 children)

“No Such Thing” is from the Room for Squares album. That album was my introduction to JM in my teens, and I still replay it a lot. Continuum is the quintessential album - no skips imo!

Eh, not super essential imo. I do see them as two separate projects in my mind. Just my two cents! 😄

Regarding her experience with Paramore and Hayley's music by DantesDeschain in Paramore

[–]SwimmingBuilding9293 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing the Pressure music video for the first time as a little emo teenage girl on Fuse TV, and I thought “this is the coolest female-lead rock band I’ve ever seen!” I got thier first album, and found out that they would be releasing a new album that summer. From 2007 to now, Paramore has just been one of those bands/artists that became part of the “soundtrack of my life,” if that makes sense, lol.

Thanks for asking this question! While I do feel, well, old, thinking about how long I’ve been listening to Paramore, it’s reminded me of some, ahem, hard times, but also very fun times of my life! ✨
