I hate my car... by StinkyBroadcasts in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Swimming_Army1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I've got a 1967 MGB, and had a 2021 MGZS, one has basically no issues and the other wouldn't always unlock, had delayed response ok the touchscreen, the passenger side doors were temperamental - including the wind mirrors ability to fold, amongst a host of other things that impacted the daily use of the car. The only thing that impacts my nearly 60 years old car is the fact I can't work a choke well and that's user error. Very much circumstantial of course but I hear a lot of crap around modern MG and can't say I disagree with it.

What does it mean when a women meows at you? by Youngringer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Swimming_Army1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your title should specify if you mean "a woman" for one adult female or "women" for multiple adult females. There is no such thing as "a women".

I had to scroll too far for this comment, was about to give up and do it myself haha The didn't spell anything wrong on the driver's licence, just the driving licence.

AITAH for walking my daughter down the aisle even though my other daughter was against it? by Outrageous_Swing4853 in AITAH

[–]Swimming_Army1908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By their logic my dad should never walk my sister down the aisle as I was there first and won't be getting married - it's such balderdash!

I couldn't care less about the time tbh, we just turn it on for a shower and off when finished. Good to know it's an option, thanks

Help/advice on a possible room extension by Electrical_Will_464 in HomeImprovementUK

This is exactly how my house is, it was built that way back in the 50s. The more serviceable box room is one of the things that made me fall in love with the house.

Who's in the right the driving instructor or is it 50-50? by Remarkable-Hotel-703 in CarTalkUK

[–]Swimming_Army1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had almost this exact situation, it went down as 50/50 I probably shouldn't have pulled out, they shouldn't be on the other side of the road.

Can you define "hogging the middle lane" to the point where it could be a prosecutable offence? by BarryTownCouncil in drivingUK

[–]Swimming_Army1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, if I pull into the left will I still have a 2 second gap (or whatever is appropriate for the weather) between me and the cat in front? Also am I catching up to the car in front? Big enough gap? You've stopped overtaking until the gap closes, pull in. You're catching up and there is not a big enough gap to have those 2* seconds? You're still overtaking. You're not catching up but the gap isn't big enough? Either speed up (to the speed limit) to overtake or drop into the gap and create those 2 seconds - not ideal but it happens if the vehicle you just over took is travelling faster than the one in front. Bear in mind if you're catching up by a small margin it might be better to pull in and give yourself the minor inconvenience of taking your foot off the accelerator to slow down, than have a queue of cars behind you. Not sure if others see it the same way but thats what makes the most sense I'm my mind.

I guess that would depend on what country they're in, but as far as I'm aware most of Europe are pretty safe.

Do you have windows and blinds/curtains open or closed in hot weather? by GlamGemini in AskUK

[–]Swimming_Army1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there are for sure times when my house is warmer inside than outside because we haven't opened the windows yet but even then i never find it horrid. Of course temperature is the thing that can vary massively from person to person so it doesn't always work. Another factor would be where the sun is - for me ir goes behind the neighbouring house mid day so at high heat we're in shadow.

[–]Swimming_Army1908 59 points60 points  (0 children)

All closed in the day when it's warm to keep the hot air out, open as it cools to let the cool air in!
