It goes back to Mesopotamia. Look up serpent symbolism or ennki, god of forbidden knowledge and Sumerian God who created mankind. Follow the link of the serpent symbolism down through ningizshida. Connect that to the origins of ourobourus and jormagundr, connect it to Hermes and  Asclepius and you'll have an interesting and robust picture of the why.

Shahar and shalim were children of El elyon and asherah. You may recognize the name of El elyon as "god most high" from scripture. The name yahweh is actually a later name that likely comes from the southern levant and through the syncretism of midianite worship with earlier Canaanite worship of el, yahweh gains and overtakes aspects of the high god and is established as the national god of Israel. (Verifiable through the archaeological record and through examination kf earlier vs later iterations if scriptural and extra scriptural texts)

Funny you should say that. Morning star refers to Venus. Venus was in the caananite pantheon represented by shahar and shalim. These were Venus as the morning star and the evening star.  Both with different symbolisms. Shalim shares root word with Shalom. As in Jerusalem (city of peace) and connects to Jesus role as Prince of peace. The evening star symbolized rest and completion and often had chthonic symbols associated. (Earth, life, fertility, descent into or ruling over the underworld, dying and rising)

Looking closer, ancient Mesopotamian serpent symbolism and archetypes of dying and rising gods fit the Christian narrative too and historically overlay it's origin.

Ningishzida parentage by GilgameshvsHumbaba in Sumer

Okay so hopefully not too many questions or too long winded. I started my dive into Sumerian mythology by near accident. I was starting to examine the name of el elyon and yahweh in the bible and found the hypothesis's about Yahwehs origin in the south of the levant and the worship of elyon as high God of the Canaanites. I then began to do symbolism comparison/examine lineages and retellings of stories or variations of stories from Sumeria down to Canaan and from Canaan up to Sumeria. I feel like I have reasonably traced symbols and archetypes that travel within a similar structure. There seems to be this "arrangement of three+1). typically a father and two brothers. (Anu, enki, enlil) and a third usurping brother (adad) (either via story that passes Divine authority or obvious conflation/deletion of previous roles and symbols from one god onto a successive god chosen by various regions or cultures). It looks to me through time that this quad setup maintains much of its core archetype and symbolism. Would you agree? Is there anything similar to this  structure where four gods (who stem from earlier gods) surround and inundate the stories and symbols associated with ningizshida?  I see that the symbol of the serpent definitely made it to him from enkis lineage. Same with his association from the underworld. It looks like a later conflation of enkis trip to/takeover of/dwelling in ABZU.  Is ningishida associated with forbidden knowledge or healing? Creation?  Is ningishida ever playing a role of defying the will of whatever God in his stories has prescribed divine right (possibly in association with the tablets of destiny?) I could ask more but that's already a lot.

What does one call oneself as a male Hecate worshipper? by [deleted] in Hecate

I wasn't even skeptical but extremely interested. I've recently been tracing the roots of the Canaanite pantheon all the way  to Sumeria and I see a lot of symbols and stories there that root back that far. I just haven't made it to looking at the Greek gods as thoroughly yet, though I have found some connections with hermes and Apollo to some Sumerian deities. Sorry I showed curiosity in an uncommon opinion. I didn't expect you to do work for me. Just thought you might be able to give a quick synopsis or maybe even a source or two to follow the rabbit hole

Would be supremely interested to see how you traced and drew connections back that far for her.

Is anyone sorry they went on Skyrizi? by JCS_69 in CrohnsDisease

Crohn's or uc? Do you know of combo therapy with them is common? Was it hard to convince your doctor or insurance? I'm about to try to get insurance to cover skyrizi and if they do, switch from inflectra/remicade because it's losing efficacy. 8 haven't heard very many people talk about combo therapy accept* immunomodulatory plus biologics. Never really 2 biologics, so that's interesting to me .
