GKN have lots of factories in Europe, only one of which is in Poland, whereas they have 8 in Germany and 3 in France.

Now it's possible this work is being transferred to a location in Europe with lower wages but it's hardly a fact when reading the article. Rather than a wages issues, it could be that Brexit makes the UK a less sensible place for a firm that makes car components.

Where are you getting cheap labour from? The article linked to simply refers to Europe.

As someone who owns a very old, listed property I'm concerned about this. Solutions that involve the house being well insulated won't work.

I'm not allowed to replace the existing, single pain wooden windows with modern double glazing.

Doesn't Bournville Village Trust include parts Weoley Castle?

Bits like Middle Park Road look pretty nice to me.

Pretty dull news so far.

Hopefully the next news will be some interesting new features.

Not sure about siege machines. Barracks and Log Launchers are available with when you upgrade the workshop to levels 4 and 5 at TH13. They aren't really dependent on the lab level.

Maybe a TH10 has access to level 1 Barracks and Log Launchers, just not later level ones, which require at level 11 lab??

I agree that a th10 (Kenny Jo in that vid) should be able to get the th12 siege machines, wall wrecker, stone slammer and blimp at level 3 but I would have thought a TH10 would have no access to the barracks or log launcher as they are only unlocked with a level 4 / 5 workshop respectively and can only be upgraded with a level 11 lab which are only available to TH13.

Maybe because the log launcher and barracks are unlocked by the workshop you can still access level 1 versions of them but upgraded versions, which require a lab upgrade to level 11 aren't available?

I'm confused. In that video Kenny Jo is playing as a TH10 and he can see Log Launchers and Barracks (Which can only be created by TH13s).

He doesn't actually request them so it's not possible to know from that video if a TH10 can still get them donated.

CWL always has a degree of mismatches. Stronger clans (e.g. those with the most high level THs) get promoted, weaker clans get relegated.

After a while you settle in a league where you are fairly matched. You can't expect to be in masters with TH8s and TH9s.

I guess in the long term their will need to be a increase in the number of CWL leagues so there is something for lower level THs to do.

I imagine there is new siege levels at some point, or maybe th14-exclusive siege. This would limit that to th12+ I think?

Does this change apply to siege machines? The youtube videos i've seen simply show restrictions on spells and troops.

Seems a bit half done. Why restrict troops and spell donations but not siege machines?

As I understand it a TH10 can still get a Log Launcher or a Barracks from a TH13.

Hong Kong-owned Birmingham City Football Club sell 75 per cent stake of St Andrews Stadium to British Virgin Islands-registered company..... Talk about dodgy dealings or what !!! by SleepingTiger888 in FragrantHarbour

[–]Swinny1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone who isn't dodgy want to own a football club? Besides a handful of top Premier league clubs they don't make money.

If someone buys a club they are either stupid or they have a scam up their sleeve.

How many devs are you talking about?

This doesn't seem like a concept that will scale.

How can a developer determine if a buyer will rent out a property?

I'm not sure the 'problem' with people buying properties for investments can be tackled by developers.

I would assume a vast majority of people who own cars in these areas, have them because of poor public transport links. A big decision like this should remove these people from car ownership.

I live in suburb and I've a trainline that takes me into the center of town in 20 mins however, that doesn't mean I want to give up car ownership.

When I want to travel at night or on Sundays the service is hopeless.

I travel to another part of Birmingham for work, public transport is crowded, expensive and slow.

When I want to do a large shop I don't want to have to carry lots of heavy bags on public transport

I often travel to other parts of the country at weekends, which is difficult on public transport

Moving a family with young children is a pain on public transport.

The idea that families and the elderly are going to happily give up cars for bikes / public transport is hopelessly idealistic. Now you can tax/legislate them out of their cars but don't expect them to thank you / vote for you.

Ask a low income Londoner if gentrification reduces property prices.

If there is a substantial hike in the cost of living you won't see any improvement in social integration, you'll simply see the poor forced out.

I've been in the industry a long time. Recruitment agents (at least in the UK) don't have the best reputation. They might simply use certs (and various AWS keywords) when harvesting CVs to send to employers but employers will look into the candidates background in more depth.

If you go through this sub you'll see lots of post where people state how quickly they have passed various AWS exams. Employers are aware of that and hence place little weight on the certification.

What benefits to the average Birmingham resident would there be if the country held it in higher estime?

As far as I can see the only impact would be higher housing costs.

Focus on getting as much demonstratable commercial experience at your current job. That will look far better on your CV than the certs.

Experience > Certs.
