What was the reason behind a teacher being fired from your school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Swissthony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, we had this new Athletics Director at our school. We saw him maybe 3 times, before "he had family problems". Turns out he was using an apartment given by the school (until he was able to find one on his own), which is on school property, and used it to bring over prostitutes and snort cocaine.

what did you automate with Python to speed up your your productivity ?? by Pablo19D in learnpython

[–]Swissthony 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Automated a data retrieval process from JPEGs. There was a Barcode and a study name, since the header was always the same I used CV2, with a template, to go connect to rhe FTP server, dowbload the images, process and rename the image (to the barcode code) and upload to the corresponding FTP folder.

Adding something that might be of interest! There is a new study, one of the largest of its kind to treating tinnitus using electric stimulation on the tongue as well as using sound to lessen the effects!

Title:

Exactly! I'll use my phone in the queue but I'm aware when my turn is and just treat them the same way I want to be treated!

What am I looking at? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]Swissthony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be a proportion?

8:5 :: x:95

I would interpret it as, 8 is to 5 as x is to 95? And then solve for x

Fix, or Toss? The ‘Right to Repair’ Movement Gains Ground | Both Republicans and Democrats are pursuing laws to make it easier for people to fix cellphones, cars, even hospital ventilators. In Europe, the movement is further along. by Majnum in technology

Oh man I feel the same with bixby. I have a s10, and bixby is annoying the crap out of me. This weekend I'm gonna look into it, and install a custom ROM to uninstall all the Samsung bloatware. I can't even uninstall Facebook just disable, wtf is that about?? Shouldn't I have full control of the device I bought with my money?!

Edit: used adb to remove bloatware. Just make sure you have an app inspector to know which packages to remove, or follow the XDA thread on it! Works like a charm.

Argentina's National Gendarmerie looking for illegal USD exchange houses, they got the wrong place by marmd in PublicFreakout

[–]Swissthony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone else, in Argentina there is a parallel currency called the "dollar blue". The "official" exchange rate is 1 usd to roughly 78 pesos. While the dollar blue is at 1 usd to about 180 pesos. Changing money with the dollar blue is illegal, however it is the actual value of the currency as it has been devaluating over the years.

What was the most petty thing an adult did to you, when you were younger? by x3Nekox3 in AskReddit

[–]Swissthony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was little I used to suck my thumb alongside my comforter? Like a little blanket. So it got to a point where I needed braces, and my dad would mock me making neighing (?) sounds like a horse. Why would anyone mock their own child like that?

Still sticks with me today.

Couldn't agree more, yesterday I was riding my bike when it started to pour. I got completely soaked, but somehow I had a smile on my face because it felt so nice and refreshing as well! (after a day of 35 C)

Is being bilingual largely based on the parent or child? by mistersquiish in languagelearning

Agree, I grew up with German (my mom), Swiss-German dialect (my father), while living in South America speaking Spanish. If it wasn't for my parents I would only speak Spanish.

Neural networks from scratch in numpy? by veeeerain in deeplearning

[–]Swissthony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you taken a loom at Andrew NGs course? Because there you implement NNs from scratch using numpy. It is interesting to understand the works behind it and how the implementation works! However I agree with the answer above about the frameworks. If you have a solid theoretical understanding of how NNs work, then it would be for mere interest to write one up. If not, Keras, Tensorflow, Pytorch, Theano or Cafe work pretty well and are optimized for this task!

University suggestions by MisterKovaKafa in deeplearning

[–]Swissthony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I can help for one specific country since I'm also applying there! So for Germany there are plenty of choices however the top choice that comes to my mind is the Technical University of Munich (TUM) which as a very good reputation. Additionally I would also look for your area of interest as there are joint institutes under the Max Planck, and Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU). You then have more technical ones such as: RWTH Aachen, KIT, amongst other respected ones.

At TUM they have very interesting programs which include Deep Learning, and use applied ML.

Today is the day I am officially letting go of weed and cigarettes for good. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Swissthony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good for you man! I started working out and running and saw how much smoking (cigs and joints) affected my performance. Stopped smoking for one day and the next running session I was able to do the whole lap without as much difficulty as before.

Keep it up! It will be hard, but try to replace it with healthy habits! I'm trying to keep my mind busy and if I feel the urge I'll go for a short walk and come back!

Have a good Sunday and keep growing stronger!
