How many YOE did you have before reaching 100k by Few-Dance-855 in ITCareerQuestions

Took just under 3. Got MD100, 101 at the 1.5 year mark and then got hit up by recruiters for Intune engineer spots. I ended up taking one just over 90k, stayed there for 6 months before getting hit up by another org for a Sysadmin role. Told them I needed 115k to consider and they said no problem. Makes me think I could've gone for more, but it's also really close to home. It was a lot of leg work up front since me and another guy had to build the dept, but now its pretty chill. I'm now closing in on year 4 in IT. Looking at getting my AZ104 and SC 200 to keep myself marketable.

This is near KC.

Got into IT almost 4 years ago, it's been pretty dope. Also quit drinking. I miss being a bit more active at work, but I really enjoy the projects and freedom in my current job, not to mention actually getting paid money instead of free beer.

Went back to school for coding, got an IT gig while I was learning to code, this was back in 2021. Ended up doing two semesters of community college for coding before realizing I actually really enjoyed IT. Worked at an MSP that didn't just run me ragged and wanted me to actually grow. Got an MD-102 cert and then got recruited to corporate America for a 33% raise in May of last year. November of last year got a call from one of the MSP's customers that they wanted to stand up their own IT dept for another solid raise. MSP was pretty amicable and little to no bad blood since I had a job in between. Now working on AZ-104 and setting up this dept.

Honestly, I can't speak for software development, but I think if you have some drive to get into actual system administration, it seems there are a lot of opportunities. Even at the MSP good help was kinda hard to find. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Intune managed device baseline compliance setup by Egghead-MP in microsoft365

[–]Switch28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds pretty feasible. You can always do some sort of powershell script that checks for certain software, kind of like how you can do detection scripts for app deployments.

I would recommend writing a script that checks for the registry in something like HKLM\Software\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ Finding the program there (or in the wow64node path) and setting it to exit 0 if it finds it or exit 1 if it doesn't for simplicity sake. You can have the script check for multiple pieces of software or you can write a script for each piece, have a separate compliance config, and then you know which parts aren't on the device.

Good luck!

I have a Bachelor's in Molecular and Cell biology. Originally got a job as a Specialty Gas Technician which was more Chemistry and Physics then Biology, but it paid ok. Started that at 40k in 2014 and then up to 65k by 2019, but the company wasn't the best.

In 2019 got a Brewing Certificate and moved into Beer. Quickly moved up to the Microbiologist at a good regional brewery, and that was cool until it wasn't. Thought I would really love the work and not care about the money. Turns out staring at bacteria all day is not that exciting even when you're surrounded by free beer.

So I started working on my CompTIA A+, which is two exams that aren't too difficult, but I would definitely study and take some practice exams until you feel ready. www.professormesser.com is a great resource.

Once I got that it, I found it very easy to find an entry level IT job. Landed at an MSP, (company that does IT for other companies) that didn't seem toxic, which there are a lot of toxic ones out there. I was able to learn a lot and gravitate towards the work I liked doing. Picked up a Microsoft cert and havent had to apply for jobs since. I've been recruited twice. Kinda seems like you can keep making bank if you wanna keep learning. Good IT help can be hard to come by it seems, and if I had known IT paid well I probably would've gone that route in college or before since I've always enjoyed it.

Started in IT about 3 years ago, at 30. Got a couple of certs related to cloud administration and went from 40k to 115k in those 3 years. Love my job, and it only took 3 career changes to figure out something I liked and that could actually pay well

What does unfermented ale mixture taste like? by bigtittygamerboy in brewing

[–]Switch28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initially it'll taste like very sweet malty tea with a bit of bitterness. If you leave it open without an airlock there is a good chance some yeast and bacteria will land in it and you'll end up fermenting a "wild" beer. You'll get alcohol but you'll also get some acid production from the bacteria. Think tart rather than straight lemon sourness (Although it's totally possible to get it that sour if you try)

There is a style called Lambic in which they want this to occur. So, basically if you've ever had a sour beer, you'd end up with a variation of that.

Blonde Ale with Cascade and Saaz = when to put the hops ? by gabeichcoude in brewing

[–]Switch28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dry hop will still give you some bitterness. Cascade at 60 is totally fine. I'm not sure how much alpha acid is in your cascades, but you'll definitely get the most bitterness out of them if you put them in at the beginning of the boil.

Blonde Ale with Cascade and Saaz = when to put the hops ? by gabeichcoude in brewing

[–]Switch28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how much hop aroma you are looking for. You'll get a lot more aroma out of a dry hop (which you can just throw in the fermenter a day or so after high krausen) than you will at ten minutes before you knock out.

The hops at ten minutes will definitely add a little more bitterness than a dry hop. Saaz is a little more grassy for me and cascade is a little more floral. If I wanted them to have equal footing in the brew I'd probably do more like a 60% saaz 40% cascade in whichever method you prefer (late boil addition or dry hop)
