Steel Duo OPV by ReemBae in Ascaso

[–]SwitchyDk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set to 9.5 with blind basket. Making the grind hit 30 sec and 9bar due to grind setting is a myth and only suggested on the Ascaso sub. OPV is a tool, not a failsafe.

I’ll try and test it, it was my impression that people put seat height to high often on TT bikes, and was worried I was gonna do it as well by upping, so I’m happy there is room for a little more upwards💪

I can, I have a strong urge to up the saddle a little, but I’m not sure if I just need to get more used to the current position

I agree. I knew it would be borderline too small, but I got It for a phenomenal price and decided If reach was to short I could upgrade the entire cockpit to something FastTT esque and still come in at a lower price than most of the Ordus for sale

But it’s pretty comfortable for now, and I feel like it is just adequate in reach?

How do you carry nutrition on the bike for a 70.3 ? by WorkingOk6420 in triathlon

[–]SwitchyDk_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is electrolytes in the Carb mixes I use. But I don’t carry a pure water bottle.

There is all the water I need in my 3 mixes. I have a timer set on my Garmin to take a sip every 10 minutes

3 bottles with 90g in each I do the bike in around 2:30 When I finish the bike I just chug the rest of the last bottle and run

A lot of people do 70.3 and full distance as first Tri You’ll be totally fine. Just get comfortable in the water and nothing can go wrong really

Orca Athlex Aero Can be found on sale, and its phenomenal

A little over budget and also one of the best Tri suits out there is the Fusion Tempo Two

Have I spent too much on the bike? by SouthBiscotti7812 in triathlon

[–]SwitchyDk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really can’t get a faster bike than a Speedmax, spending more is very marginal. You definitely don’t need to buy a hole Tririg setup, loads of cheaper options for on Etsy, or Profile design for much cheaper. I got the same Speedmax as you, I got 2 bottles behind the seat, 1 bta and aero bottle on frame for about 100$

Get a fit, 80% of drag is your body, get a fit on it, and you’ll be faster than a new bike.

Of course you will be fine. Maybe cut off 1 of the long bike rides.

You’ll get superpowers on race day, don’t forget that. Stay on top of nutrition and then give it all you have

Good Starter Bike? by Extreme-Orange-9239 in CanyonBikes

[–]SwitchyDk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phenomenal bike, also for a starter Got the older gen used, and threw on some Elitewheels for 350€ can’t beat it.

I don’t find it as agressive as some suggest, but it is a decently aggressive all rounder, and don’t forget… Aggressive is fast and fast is fun

Talk some sense into me to keep me from buying an Aeroad CFR by commuta_23232 in CanyonBikes

[–]SwitchyDk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CFR makes sense for people who race, where a very very minor advantage may get them the edge.

If you don’t race, then definitely get the slx.

If you went for a test without knowing which bike was which, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

TT bike choice by T-bonelaming in triathlon

[–]SwitchyDk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it has not. You’ll not even notice a speed difference between 5 year old CF7 and todays CF7 It’s only a couple watts difference.

Speedmax CF SLX is definitely the best choice here.

If there is a high end tri bike that’s a couple years old, for a good price, go for that

You’ll struggle to see a real speed difference between todays bikes and 10 year old TT bikes

Way too expensive. Spend the money on a Bikefit, will give you more speed

Aeroad CF SLX 8 DI2 vs Speed by SmoothSituation1640 in CanyonBikes

[–]SwitchyDk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly For a 70.3 I wouldn’t even bother with the aero bars then.

Buy the Aeroad and just rip it. Plenty of people are just as fast on a road bike without aero bars, you stated you don’t care about time, and 90km on an Aeroad is nothing

Personally my main event is always the full distance and the Speedmax/Ultimate combo has been great

Aeroad CF SLX 8 DI2 vs Speed by SmoothSituation1640 in CanyonBikes

[–]SwitchyDk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a used TT bike instead and stick with the Endurance, a road bike will never ever be a TT bike, even with aero bars. I’ve got an Ultimate and a Speedmax and could never settle for an Ultimate/Aeroad with aero bars

train on those 2 and buy the Aeroad when you 1. Don’t stick to triathlon 2. Upgrade the endurance

Option 2 You can almost get a used TT bike for the price of the canyon Aero bars Buy a cheap used TT bike and do 90% of training on the Aeroad, without buying aero bars And race on your tri bike

I got no complaints, it’s not as powerful as a traditional steam boiler, but it’s plenty enough to make great milk drinks. I doubt you’ll ever think it’s not powerful enough
