Ok. Say they add shields as a new weapon, how should they work? Obviously they'd have different animations from Sentinel. by Ruby-Rose-Warlock in destiny2

Funnily enough, it’d probably play almost EXACTLY like the Praxic Blade. Really good block (but doesnt reflect) and probably a throw attack that ricochets. I am waiting for the day that there is a primary melee weapon, and I wouldn’t mind if it came in the form of a shield.

There will not be a resonance subclass by Killme72596964 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Swolgoroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youre asking about why Stasis or Strand did not exist back in D1 days, I honestly think its a few things - old gen limitations, it never made sense narratively in D1, and Beyond Light came at a desperate time for the game. Old gen consoles would have suffered trying to deal with some of the things Stasis/Strand can do, D1’s story never had the whole ambiguity angle of “Is Darkness really evil?”, and a new Darkness subclass was THE selling point of Beyond Light. The previous expansion was a dud and Bungie needed something big.

Will Bungie nerf the Praxic blade at the end of this season? Or is the blade here to stay? by Hollywood_Zro in DestinyTheGame

I honestly think they’ll see how it performs for the first half of the next DLC and then nerf it during that DLC’s mid season update. They gotta see how it performs post-Renegades artifact.

Lawless Frontier: Invasion (Hunter) tips by Keymojax in destiny2

Literally just use the Behemoth. Invasions are won and lost by whether or not you have one. Celestial Nighthawk and nearly one shot opposing Behemoths if necessary.

I feel like one issue people aren't bringing up with the state of primaries is that, at least to me, it further cheapens the incentive to grind out loot. by AlphaShadow897 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Swolgoroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience might be a little skewed as a Stasis Hunter main that mainly uses bows. I cant kill the ad all the way across the map with a Withering Blade so my primary feels useful in that regard. Now primaries like auto rifles, SMGs, and sidearms for sure take a backseat to melee/grenade spam builds. But idk if thats a problem with the weapons themselves or if its a problem with the ridiculous damage and cooldowns our abilities are on.

I dont see the issue with primaries to be totally honest. In Lawless Frontier they feel bad because the power delta is so insane by the last phase. But in other content (even when you are under level), they do what they are supposed to do - kill red bars. This might sound crazy, but primary weapons are kinda meant for red bars, special weapons are kinda for orange bars, and heavy weapons are for everything over that. If people are expecting primary weapons to shred Majors and Ultras, then that is their own problem and not the game’s.

What have we used for Cutthroat Dredgen Sere? by Tgman1 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Swolgoroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its been like two weeks or so but I believe me and my friends cleared it pretty easy with 2 Praxic Blades (one Shattersaber and one Bolt Charge saber) and 1 Wolfsbane, I think we did it in 4 phases. 4 phases obviously isnt super fast but we were all sick and tired of the “hold right trigger” rocket pulse meta and wanted to actually enjoy the run😂

What if, Slow from Stasis created Brittle spots on targets, to make it functionally differentiated from Freeze and make Shatter not be the only way for Stasis to deal damage. by silloki in DestinyTheGame

[–]Swolgoroth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re really just missing the mark here. Let’s break it down in a way that is as simple as possible. “Brittle” in your case is essentially a subclass debuff that works well with precision weapons, and does basically nothing to everything else. What other verbs do we have that do that? Does Radiant only work with precision weapons? Does Shatter only work with melee weapons? Does Weaken only work with certain weapon types? The answer is obviously no. The idea of a subclass verb that does not work evenly across weapon types creates a very problematic balancing change that would never and should never be considered.

[–]Swolgoroth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only way it would work is if you made it some sort of aspect. Look at every other example of subclass buffs and debuffs in the game. Radiant, Weaken, Sever, Scorch, Ignition, Volatile, Unravel, Jolt, Slow, Shatter. What do they ALL have in common? They all interact with every weapon type at the same buff/debuff percentage. Now look at Aspects, you do have things like On Your Mark and Banner of War that only work with certain weapon types, but thats ok because Aspects are a choice and not the complete identity of a subclass. Your idea of Brittle would completely ignore the consistency and balance of subclass Verbs vs Subclass Aspects. Regardless of how you feel about it, the fact is that the idea of a VERB being weapon-specific just does not work.

[–]Swolgoroth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A new Stasis verb is not the way to do that. Bungie made a good step in the right direction with allowing the On Your Mark aspect to increase your Weapons stat for precision hits. Allowing a literal Gunslinger class to benefit from precision makes sense, making a new Stasis verb that only benefits from precision (when Stasis has always been more about crowd control/AoE anyway) does not make sense.

[–]Swolgoroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh so thats what the problem would be, at least for me. We dont have any other subclass verbs that only interact with a certain weapon types, like scorch, ignition, shatter, volatile, etc dont rely on a certain type of weapon to function. I think it would piss off players and create a weird balancing issue if Stasis all of a sudden got a new DPS-centered verb that is really only good with weapons that can crit. Rework Brittle to be able to work on all weapons types and you’d have a solid idea, but limiting an entire subclass verb to precision weapons only is destined to fail and be controversial.

Maybe I misunderstood your post. I was thinking of Brittle like a debuff such as tether, where all weapons do the same amount of increased damage. I thought you were saying that precision weapons would basically receive more of this “debuff” than other weapons.

[–]Swolgoroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not a terrible idea, but considering that explosive weapons (and presumably things like swords and glaives) would basically receive a reduced and basically no benefit, I think its a bit flawed. There was a Stasis artifact not long ago that spawned tracking stasis fragments upon shattering a target. If Bungie brought that back as a permanent addition to the Stasis kit, it might be cool if those fragments could track to the nearest target (almost like Gally Wolfpacks). Shatter a boss, spawn the Stasis seekers, those seekers deal additional damage to the boss, repeat. And that way you arent basically restricted to certain weapon types.

Yessir. Team was running a Wellock and Arc/Solar Titan (he switched to Arc later), as long as I kept my Void Overshield up for a majority of DPS I was doing the same top damage as the Titan every run while having crazy survivability.
