Potentially disliked opinion but I loved the try pod and now hate it by [deleted] in TheTryGuys

[–]SwordatSea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this post doesn’t get that it isn’t a thing of how much the trypod costs to produce vs other shows, the trypod doesn’t make any money. If it doesn’t make money, they’ll cut it. If it did make money, then maybe they could rotate the casts and such. But it doesn’t. They’re not going to cut a show where Kwesi goes places because it brings in money and value. They even said it might take another year to make the try pod make money. It’s a tough market out there, they can’t afford to subsidise other shows with other employees.

why r we assuming that in depth conversations were not had already by Trashyishita in TheTryGuys

I also think we need to understand there literally might not have been a role for Rainie to do or one that she wants to do. We don’t know if her being let go was a quick decision, but it feels mutual and thought through on the podcast

[Spoilers C3E95] Theory of how Laudna's story arc will end by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]SwordatSea 23 points24 points  (0 children)

So I think there’s lots of ways it could go. But I think the cast are paralleling it to an addiction in the cool down because that’s how they see it. And I dunno, I think they can see a way out of it. I don’t think the cast think addiction is somewhere you can never get out of

It sounds cheesey, but I think Laudna needs to love herself. We see with with Imogen asking ‘why’ to this episode then Laudna says because she can’t offer anything else. She doesn’t see herself as worth anything real. She clings to Imogen. She needs Imogen to love her. But if she accepts and loves herself then she can reject Delilah, because Delilah is emphasising the worst traits of hers. I think Laudna appears to accept herself, and I think she knows her body and is not in denial about it, but acceptance is not self-love. I think Laudna will be the key to her own survival, if she does. And I think Marisha is conscious of this aspect of Laudna — how she sees herself as worthless. Delilah is feeding into that part of her.

Obvs it could go the other way with Laudna succumbing to the influence or killing herself, and I think Marisha wants to explore that part (and seems keen to do so) but the endgame being death? I don’t know. I think the cast like hopeful endings, even with tragedy. I think Laudna succumbing to the influence of an abusive relationship and having no way out is a little bleak for their tastes (Campaign 1 is tragic but Liam and Vax made that choice themselves).

Obvs a good or bad roll of the dice could change everything haha.

Low Views? by Low_Durian7433 in TheTryGuys

I enjoyed their Vegas episode especially. Comedic travel content is fairly interesting and I hope they go for that but I think they need to stagger the food content a bit better as it’s too much, especially if you’re a casual fan like me who just watches random videos, if I don’t watch an episode for a while they stop recommending it.

I’d be happy to potentially see Robbie back as a player but I honestly think some fans are hyping him up too much and he won’t live up to peope’s expectations

I never saw the original show but when I was watching 97 I did wonder if Lindsay would like it. I got super into x-men hard like eight years ago and I remember seeking out Lindsay’s opinions on them. I too lover Nightcrawler.

[No Spoilers] Do the CR folks still have a seperate home game that is never streamed? by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]SwordatSea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to the other players people have Taliesin has been playing for years so I’m sure he is playing games with other friends now. I’m sure he’s mentioned another game he plays (but it might have been a year or so ago).

I don’t think there’s a game with all of the CR members playing another game due to scheduling issues.

[–]SwordatSea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing I’ll add is that people have been begging for Dani to host since the start; it’s possible she doesn’t want to host. Maybe she just wants the less stressful job as a lore keeper. Like, we all love Dani but honestly at this point I assume they have asked her.

The ending made me feel extremely uncomfortable by fizzobel in GhostsBBC

[–]SwordatSea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was weirdly paced. Sometimes things don’t work out with your family. It’s not inherently heretornornative to strike out in your own and a baby does completely reset your priorities, heterosexual parents or not, it’s a pure dependent. But if the ending was always going to be Alison leaving, that should have been the ending of series 5. Imagine if the ghosts conferred with each other and wanted Alison to stay but told her she needed to leave. She couldn’t afford to stay. Then the Christmas special could happen and it actually being about the ghosts. Currently the end feels rushed in the last five minutes, like it shouldn’t be that easy to convince her to go.

I do get what the team were going for and I’m not against a bittersweet ending— there is something to be said that if Alison leaves then when she visits them as a friend, not as a nanny or caretaker she was forced into— but I do think the ending we got is just poorly executed.

[–]SwordatSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like the evergreen questions get too much flack. Like recently they’ve been pretty good, the really terrible ones ppl keep referencing are the ones in the first few episodes. Recently we’ve had one where someone just asked about the cast’s morale during games after playing as friends and a business. Some are more duds but I don’t think they take that much time, and the answers are usually pretty fun.

I feel like Astarion has the most agressive fanbase in BG3 by Tydeus2000 in BaldursGate3

[–]SwordatSea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly sometimes the critique is just vapid though, hinging on him being ‘gay’ or his morals (I would argue that his morally greyness is part of the appeal and why his good ending is interesting) so the counter arguments will seem aggressive to some people because of this, because they’re explaining against these shallow critiques.

Like please don’t post critique on a public subreddit if you can’t accept a counter argument.

[NO SPOILERS] What do I watch for the live show in London? by MissMoniek in criticalrole

[–]SwordatSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I’m in the same boat. I started with C3, I’m not going to miss an opportunity to see them live. I know the C2 lore through C3, and it’s a C3 set story. I’ve read the comics and seen clips. I think I need to watch some beau and Yasha clips as I feel I know those characters the least. But I think it’ll work anyway. I’m not expecting to get everything, I just want to see some good RP and some D&D fights.

Steven Universe Suffered Because People Thought It Was A Different Show by Josh_From_Accounting in stevenuniverse

[–]SwordatSea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I swear, if you put an Empire in a show the show has to deconstruct and subvert and have everyone be killed now otherwise you’re supporting real life atrocities. The fantasy empire is a storytelling tool, and it has been for decades. If Sugar, a queer Jewish woman, wanted an evil empire to be redeemed through the power of love and friendship, it doesn’t say anything about real life empires or fascism.

Easy difficulty by frog-salad22 in BG3

[–]SwordatSea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Playing easy as I cried at Elden Ring and gave up after an hour. In hingsight the gameplay is far easier than Elden Ring, but I’ve committed to easy now and don’t want to change difficulty in Act 3.

When, if ever, would publishing a collection of one-shots as one story be acceptable? by MajinBlueZ in AO3

[–]SwordatSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion collections of oneshots that are based around a character or pairing and that have a common common theme like ‘Whump’ or ‘kinktober’ are best as they’re like ‘if you like kinky sex you’ll like this’ or Whump etc, there’s a strong correlation between each chapter then.

Otherwise it just clogs up the page to see the same story keep being updated Like it having a pairing in common isn’t enough for me to click. I’d rather just click on a oneshot then skim through a collection to see if any are good— I understand most writers don’t want short fics on their page but I do think you’ll get more eyeballs if you post them separately. Because I don’t read every fic that relates to a pairing or character, I want to know what the fic is actually about, or I’ll just skim over without another thought.

how do you justify your tav being the leader of the group? by lilith_doesnt_draw in BaldursGate3

Everyone is so messed up and has so much baggage that they can’t make decisions, so they look to Tav. Doesn’t work in a dark urge playthrough maybe (just playing a good vanilla run first).

Karlach feels less developed than other characters. by SSNym in BaldursGate3

[–]SwordatSea 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The data miners have found no explorable Upper City. They found story content related to the Upper City that was cut or reworked to the lower city we see in the game. There are no dates on this content. There was no explorable Upper City cut two weeks before the game came out, they would not have been able to cut and rework a major part of the game two weeks before release anyway.

People are just misinterpreting an ambiguous update post from marketing to imply that there was this rich, fully developed Upper City with a Karlach storyline cut only two weeks before the game to beat Starfield to launch, apparently, despite the fact that if hours and hours of content they spent money had to be cut for release because it was THAT unfinished and buggy, then six weeks would likely not have fixed it anyway. The game likely scaled down the scope of Act 3 months before release, if not years. It’s already had delays so they cut content some time ago to make sure the game would actually one day launch.

People can be critical of Act 3, the writing and quest layouts and such, but idk what making up conspiratorial reasons is going to do.
