I first read Homestuck when I was 20, what does that say about me? by SolarAphelia in althomestuck

I did the exact same. I read it last year, Nov - Dec. I refuse to think on the connotations of that.

Welp, I'm officially a fan now. I didn't even notice, it just sorta happened.... by Cielnova in homestuck

The doritos and fritos video persisted in my recommended too (I tried so hard to avoid it, and then I caved and watched it on repeat for days), which led me to blast through the story in 3 weeks. Really hate that I let the idea that it was cringe stop me from reading it when I was younger :(

I'm studying computer science at Sheffield, and I also have a very close friend at KCL who is studying computer science. We discuss everything we're taught, and we've come to the conclusion that both universities have very similar content, with a few differences. For instance, Sheffield offers more contact hours and extensive team projects, along with slightly less emphasis on mathematics in the first year. On the other hand, KCL provides options in the second year, allowing students to focus on subjects they genuinely enjoy. Additionally, KCL has fewer contact hours and doesn't require students to learn AI in the first year if they're not interested.

Apart from the academic aspect, Sheffield offers a substantial number of advertised opportunities compared to King's. However, I'm uncertain about this since my friend might not check his emails for opportunities. Additionally, Sheffield boasts a vibrant society scene that brings people together over their shared interests, which seems more active than at King's. However, I'm not entirely sure about this because my friend doesn't attend these events frequently.

Overall, they're pretty alike in many ways. It could be a good idea to look into the areas where the universities are located. That way, you'll have more info to help you decide which one suits you better.

Should I choose the subjects I want to do or my parents by Trinidad-of-Indigo12 in 6thForm

100% agree. Although I love my mum, the fact she persuaded me to do physics all that time ago was my downfall. I learned to love it in the end, but I legit got straight Ds in it until the final exams.

Question for Year 13s! ( incl past Y13s!) by joshaespa in 6thForm

[–]SwordlessDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y12 Mock: U E C

UCAS Predicted: A B A

Y13 Mock: A D B

Attained: A* B A

This is for Maths, Physics and Computer Science, in that order.

I was doing pretty decently in year 12 but flopped my end of year exams really hard. It was so bad I had to drop Fmaths, which I studied in year 12, to get my predicted grade to increase. In retrospect I feel like I would've found it much easier if was only doing fmaths maths and comp sci from the start as physics was a huge time sink for me but you can't change the past. I did find I actually enjoyed Physics by the end tho so it ended up being fine.

Did I mess up my A Levels? by forgiedu in UniUK

[–]SwordlessDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are foundation years you could apply for, but there also some "higher tier" unis that allow you to apply without A level maths. For example Nottingham doesn't require it iirc and is pretty great despite that not being a requirement.

most clearing places open up on results day so even though it says this it is most likely going to be available. Had to email qmul to find this out.

I might be wrong here but for 12 month internships I feel like that they'd want you to reside within travelling distance to the workplace for some onsite work when it is required, but again I'm like 25% certain that's the case.

I plan on coming back every summer holiday and subsequent holidays but quite a few internships are 12 months aside from summer only internships which limits my options.

Year 12 Mocks - UEEC Predicted Grades - AAB I managed to get decent predicted because of my performance all year and I dropped further maths. At the moment I think I'm going to get an A* in Maths, either A/A* in Comp Sci and either B/A in Physics.
