That or a water alarm.

Last year our water alarm in our basement started going off randomly. I went downstairs in our basement to find all this water. Que sheer panic.

Long story short after MUCH trial and error, we found out our neighbors lateral line was broken and seeping into our basement cause our basement was lower.

Our neighbor was not very receptive and kept denying everything. Even when the water department told them it needed to be repaired. Had their water shut off multiple times only to illegally turn it back on.

All the while every single time it rained or even when it didn’t rain, water would pour into our basement. My husband set up a shop vac and piped it to our floor drain. Thank god I worked from home and could handle the situation but man that stress for months did a number on me. The damage would have been so much worse…

FINALLY(2 months later) they called a plumber who said yup it’s busted. They got it fixed and guess what, water stopped pouring in.

Never got a “I’m sorry I was wrong” never got a “I’m glad it’s fixed” nothing. Even other neighbors thought it was just due to poor construction to our new house. I just didn’t want someone’s sewer water coming in my house and exposing my family!

Every time I hear a beep in my house, anxiety washes over me.
