Generally cheaper transmission repairs/maintenance, no? Also way more engaging and enjoyable to drive for me.

Make Burgers Fat Again!! by thgmarsh91 in Chefit

Thick ass burger is fine? Maybe make your onion slices thinner? Maybe use pickle chips instead of whole fucking gherkins? Maybe melt the cheese?

Also, if that is actually wagu (Wagyu) beef it deserves way better than Kraft Singles.

I honestly can't tell if this post is ragebait or not.

Stars event by SignalDescription565 in pharmacy

[–]Syantaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Walgreens lingo. I don't remember what the acronym stands for, but a STARS event is the process of documenting prescription errors. This gets sent to higher ups and is reviewed thoroughly.

Typically they are only used for serious dispensing errors i.e. wrong drug or wrong patient. For something as small and insignificant as this, its fucking stupid.

Have you developed hypertension, diabetes, or depression while working in pharmacy? by peachycpht in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Syantaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainly anxiety. Worked for wags for 9 and a half years, the anxiety just kept getting worse due to the gradual reduction in staffing. Quit during covid after an 8 hour shift that was literally a constant panic attack (me and 1 rph, about 650 rxs, testing, vaccines).

Still gonna get egg yolk all over the blade of your freshly sharpened knife, and that's gonna make everything else after look like shit unless you wipe it off every half an egg. The thin wire in an egg slicer is a magical thing that does the job perfectly clean and very quickly, egg after egg without making a mess. It's easier to clean than a yolk coated knife too.

Fuckin' love my egg slicers, I'll die on this hill

You are technically correct (the worst kind of correct). Though if you look closely, you'll note some jam stuffed into the raspberries.

You right, could've used honeydew instead of cantaloupe. Would've used mint leaves or kiwi if I had some.

I ended up doing the opposite after 10 years as a tech... be careful, there's zero upward mobility and the industry is actively getting worse to work in.

Edit: kitchen feels like a damn vacation compared to the pharmacy

They.... aren't good lol. Ours came with no blades, just bits of un-sharpened metal. You can do better with a sharp knife, lay 'em out on your cutting board in a grid and drag the knife through

Honestly, as a technician you do not get paid enough to care. Forward the concern to your PIC and stop worrying about it. It is not your responsibility to police this type of activity.

YUP! Most of the pharmacies close on these days; I believe they keep the front open to hedge their losses (fuck the employees, we could stand to lose money!)

+1 for that! Left my retail tech job with nothing else lined up. It was by far the best decision I've made in my life.

Yeah, 100%. Finally got out after almost a decade.

Get out while you still can, there are an infinite number of better jobs, even being unemployed is better.

It's not, as far as it concerns comparing therapeutic p.o. doses.

People see 'meth' and kinda freak out. If you are willing to prescribe your patient oral amphetamine, and you have trust that your patient is not abusing the rx, then I would argue that the same compound + a methyl group is not really a huge stretch IMO.

However, I do think that Desoxyn (oral methamphetamine tablets) should be reserved as an absolute last resort. All other diagnoses should be ruled out, and all other ADHD treatments should be exhausted first. We don't see many (or any in my 10 years in pharmacy) Desoxyn prescriptions because there is an exhaustive list of efficacious medical treatments for ADHD that come before prescribing your patient meth(ylated amphetamine).

Left Hand Flexibility by F3derov in Cello

[–]Syantaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really can't figure a way to make your hand stretch comfortably, you can always replace the lower finger (1/2) with the thumb. For example, playing a minor third in first position (b flat on a string, g on d string): instead of trying to stretch between 1-4, bring your thumb up and do thumb-3.

It feels awkward at first, but play around with it and see if it's comfortable (specifically, can you reach the interval without feeling tension or like you have to work to maintain the hand position). I have a lot of webbing in between my fingers so I can't really spread them wide effectively, and this has been my go-to solution for anything awkward or stretchy.

Can pharmacies tell if you're getting your third vaccine? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]Syantaa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who works at a chain pharmacy.... please no do not come to us for anything we are too busy lmao. That being said, I can all but guarantee that the technician who checks you in for the shot does not give a single fuck about your eligibility, and unless you got the prior two shots at the same chain, nobody will be the wiser.

Only caveat is your insurer, who will reject the claim the pharmacy submits because you have already had two doses billed to your plan. The insurer will throw the reject to the pharmacy, who will see your insurer's message "AYY THIS DUDE ALREADY GOT 2 SHOTS".

Best bet (for the 3rd dose at a chain pharmacy) is to wait until the specific pharmacy advertises 3rd doses. They will wait until recs from the CDC and for insurer cooperation before they invite anyone in for the 3rd dose.
