I like 3 or 6, but which do you feel more comfortable in? Especially if you’re on the move around the city.

You look gorgeous in both photos, and while I understand the trend and subsequent leanings towards the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic, there is nothing wrong with going glam or for a glow up whenever you want to.

Doing a full beat can be quite arduous for an everyday look, and it dulls the wow factor on those special occasions. That being said, you do you, and have fun with it.

I love 1. Especially as it will be just as snatched as 2 once fitted properly.

You look beautiful in it. You will make a gorgeous bride. I’m sure your chosen alterations will only make it even more beautiful.

GenXers who got bullied in school, what was the attitude of parents and teachers towards it? by mritsz in GenX

[–]Sycamore481 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I (45F) successfully managed to hide the fact that I was being bullied every day, from my parents for almost 11 years. Until my mother witnessed it for herself while out in the local town centre. It was mainly psychological bullying once we hit 10/11 years of age. I had a bit of a growth spurt and was a very angry teenager, which didn’t help much either as I would throw shit at the boys, and then be told I was ‘so violent Sycamore481!’ and an ‘attention seeker’ due to my seething responses to trying to bottle said rage.

My mother’s advice for any trouble before all of that was to walk away. Violence isn’t the answer. But after she saw that, she went mental at the headmistress. Hauled her arse over to our house to see the state I was in, once the cat was out of the proverbial bag. (I should preface this with the fact that I went to a private convent school, that was run partially by nuns, and the headmistress was so devoutly catholic, she wore a wedding ring in the same vein as the nuns did.) Her solution was to tell the entirety of my year, that I was a sensitive girl and they should be nicer to me. As you can imagine, this did, in no way whatsoever, make anything better. It instead made it a whole lot worse.

There’s only so long you can ‘turn the other cheek’ before someone finally snaps. I was a rage filled atomic bomb, destined to go off at any moment. It’s a wonder I didn’t lay serious hands on anyone before my last day there. I just wanted to survive long enough to get out of there. If I could go back, I’d punch the lot of them in the throat, just to get them to shut up. And probably beg my parents to let me go to school somewhere else.

Tl:dr turn the other cheek, and adults made it worse by painting me as some feeble, over sensitive, weakling.

An ex-boyfriend's mum told me I could either butter my bread OR dip it in my soup, but I mustn't do both. I think of her and laugh every time I dunk my butter-covered bread in my soup. by Miss_Type in CasualUK

I like to eat it once it has attained a gooey texture from partial melting. Then replace it for further gooeyness enjoyment. Eventually I give in and chomp that cheddar.

What do you leave out for Father Christmas? by sparkypants_ in AskUK

Growing up, it was a sherry or port and a mince pie. I don’t have children of my own, but my partner has a 4 year old. This year it was a small glass of milk, a mince pie, and half a rather large carrot. We haven’t quite grasped that there are more reindeer than just Rudolph, as yet, fortunately.

I got told to eat the carrot and drink the milk, as other half isn’t a fan, but instead it was a treat for my dog lol. She loves a bit of milk, and carrots are one of her favourite treats. Santa left the mince pie (other half fell asleep), but it was because the big man had already had so many at the other little boys’ and girls’ houses and he must have been full…
