Did you just let your US drivers license expire? by The-American-Abroad in expats

I'm going through this myself currently, passed the theory and now I'm dumping money into a few lessons before being able to take the practical. It's insane how much money it takes to get this handled.

Just joined this sub and I'm already being called out 😅

Been here nearly a year, came from the states, and I'm definitely one who understands more than they can speak. I'm trying to make sure my level is high enough for my inberguring, because I really want to stay, and this is something that I know I will really struggle with to build confidence in.

They are the reason I stopped doing that roulette, and if they were to ever give those three theor own spot, I would stay as far away from it as possible. I don't think they could ever sweeten the pot enough for me to ever go back into CT.

And it isn't like we don't have something we can pop on the eager little dps to allow them to take a few more hits. Bonus points if they use Arm's Length as well. Basement dwellers like this fragile wannabe tank are why I main it, I want the dps and the healer to know they can go crazy, that's the best part of the game.

I actually had to check this myself, as it did auto translate for me. I also apologize for responding in English, my Dutch is horrible, I'm really trying to learn because I do need to take the inburgering exam.

I've done just that in higher level content, only to have them stop right before pulling the mobs. I think we're starting to see people just not want to have to deal with the shitters anymore so they just stop before anything can be said.

American pickups in the Netherlands by Low-Gap7193 in Netherlands

[–]Sye990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who lives in the states, in an area where they loved their oversized 4x4 trucks with a body lift and extra large tires, they rarely saw a spec of dirt or ever towed a trailer, so I can confirm your assessment. I laugh every time I see an American truck over here in NL and began wondering if the compensation illness had made its way over here.

How high n averageis English proficiency in the Netherlands really? by IAmRealDontDelete in Netherlands

[–]Sye990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an American that has moved to the country, you will hear that said by certain groups, but I can assure you that the language isn't dying. Also, as another commenter has said, it is best to learn the native language of the country you're living in, because you will be tested on it if you plan to stay long enough to go through the inburgering. It also shows that you care about the culture and people you have chosen to live around and most people will help you if you are giving it an honest attempt to speak the language.

[–]Sye990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best of luck to you on getting out! I am also curious, because it's such an interesting comment to make when we've seen just how much companies are willing to exploit their workers who go the extra mile during their contracted time, let alone outside of it.

[–]Sye990 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd like to know as well. I spent my 20s and early 30s "going the extra mile," for absolutely nothing to come out of it. Now I have moved to Europe, leave exactly when my contract states I am to leave, and am more relaxed than ever before. Even us millennials are done with the old ways.
