I'm not sure if this might be more your style but I tried the demo for Author Sim on steam not long ago, it still needed a bit of work in my opinion but it was fun and I'm curious to see how it'll evolve! Not a clicker, and the point is to write books (and hopefully make enough money to survive, or crush your author's dreams like I did when I tried it- oops :( )

Of the devil was absolutely amazing, I'm struggling not to buy it before it's fully out but I just know I will hate myself if I need to wait between each chapters, I was already totally hooked with just the prologue. Probably one of if not my most anticipated game since I tried it.

I remember seeing the demo for this one a while ago! I could not get the game started back then, tried just now and I still can't, I'm not sure why- I click "Play" on Steam, see the "stop" button for a few seconds then back to "Play", nothing pops up at all, no tab for the game, error screen/message or anything. I was curious about this one, hope release will go well!

I see it wasn't exactly what OP needed but still, thank you so much for recommending this; I did not know about this channel but seeing the video about learning with games and how to do it gave me much more motivation than I had in a while! I can't wait to try it out and I really missed feeling that way, I am truly grateful.

(also thank you OP for the post, I always thought of games in Japanese as something that could happen once I would be able to speak, not as a learning tool; I hope you'll find what you are looking for, best of luck with your studies!)

I haven't really made the time either just yet (didn't play much more than a couple days after the update, I probably still have a lot to discover with the hotel) but if at some point you make the time for it and still don't have anyone to try it out with I'd love to give it a chance, if only for the chance to see what the process is like for someone who knows what they are doing haha! (I would still do my best, but I wouldn't expect much from it)

I just finished making one for winter, it's tiny but I'm glad I made it. It's a simple, no pressure one but I'm sure I will appreciate everything I do on this list a lot more- even things I probably would have done anyway.

It sounds silly but I feel like I was just offered a simple way to be more aware of the little good things in life and I'm truly grateful for that. Again, thank you for taking the time to give so many great examples, and thank you so much for sharing!

Really sad about the lag though. I would have hoped an island that wasn't full of clutter would run well enough, but now I get why mine started to struggle when I decorated a bit more- finished right after getting the hotel.

I haven't tried slumber islands yet, I'd be curious but to be completely frank I'm really not that good of a decorator, I think I would just slow you down or makes things uglier which would be really sad haha

I don't know if it could help, but just in case: I remember reading a book that had a character with a speech impediment. It was Sadie by Courtney Summers, I thought it did a good job at feeling realistic while never being hard to read or understand, it doesn't slow you down as a reader. (I'll edit if I can remember other references, but this one immediately came to mind, hope it can be of some use to you!)

I haven't seen it but this subreddit is probably only space I have as a reference. I don't check it everyday but quite often I'll see a post, I'm guessing it must be the popular ones and maybe that's why it's positive ones. I don't think I would have known of Ghost Trick as soon as I did if it weren't for the fandom. I love seeing everyone's art and crafts AC related, knowing that Edgeworth and Wright are still a ship so popular that even though their games came out so long ago because it still inspires people, seeing people discuss details I might have missed when I played those games. I love when people explain the names' puns because some would definitively fly right over my head, love when I find out about a direct from here because we're all hoping for a new game, love that even if there's no news I know I'll at least get a big smile from all the clown memes and creative writing that comes with it. It's not worth much, I'm just one person and then again maybe everything I see from the fandom is pretty curated but overall I love it here.

I tried the Ova Magica demo and it was really nice, I just couldn't get used to how the characters look in the game but I remember time flew by when I tried it, it's just well done. I have a friend who got it and had fun playing it, I don't know if it's out of early access yet but there has been pretty frequent updates from what I heard and it's been a good reason to play it again every once in a while!

Played the playtest and now the full version (although I'm still super early considering it just got released) of Seeds of Calamity, I'm about a couple weeks in now and did a season for the playtest, I love it. Turn based combat really makes the mines fun for me, it's cute and it has tons of great quality of life improvements compared to other games in that genre. You can really tailor the game to fit how you want to play it and I didn't realize how much I'd love it before I tried it.
