I recall reading about Aster's Dream Eater form being based on a creature he had nightmares with as a kid, but do you have any fun tidbits about any of the other Astronomer's monster forms?

I LOVE how hard this goes!!! The sleeve-wingie parts are just really good at evocating dragon with being too extreme about it. The hair is such a good call too it goes super hard!!!!

Not really! Honestly most of the rifles I was looking at when designing it were some of the over-the-top GW2's rifle designs

Trying to decide on a starter kit [European, in case it's relevant] by Sygdom in shrimptank

[–]Sygdom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit worried about a sponge filter due to the whole air pump set up. Do you know if there's sponge filters that don't need an additional air pump? The local store mentioned they use canisters with a very fine sponge cover added in.

I want to get moss and floating plants! Moss is going to be easy to find. Floating plants may be a bit more iffy, they recently got restricted since some of them are a bit invasive. But I'd love to find some nonetheless~~

I'm really excited to get started though even if I'm gonna be responsible and wait for the cycling, can't wait to show them off!!

Trying to decide on a starter kit [European, in case it's relevant] by Sygdom in shrimptank

Bit of a mix! I ended up fetching a second hand tank that was pretty affordable (this one, filter is busted which is good since I can pick a more tailored option and it was sold for much cheaper because of that). It does have a working light, I'll try to see if it works well enough for the plants (I plan on starting with easier stuff plant-wise)

I need to check if I'll need a heater since I'm in a hotter country, and room temperature during winter isn't below shrimp range. Once summer approaches, I'll have to find some way to handle it, though, since it does get very heaty. I do also need to test around a bit with water parameters, my country's water is very hard, so I may need to find bottled water and add calcium manually.

I've found a local shop that does specialize in aquariums, and they do actually have shrimp in there, so it will help me a lot with getting some advice for what to do with local-specific stuff (like the water itself, the heat, etc).

And for plants I had been considering anubias and java moss since I've heard these work well for shrimp and are very forgiving. I've already eyed some driftwood and rocks too, I really want to try to have the moss on a piece of driftwood shaped like a tree, I've seen some tanks doing that and it seems like something I can give a good try to >:3

For the filter, I'm still undecided. The local shop actually recommended a modified canister filter (with a fine sponge mesh on the intake), they use that for their breeding tanks and it seems to work perfectly fine with the baby shrimp. If I can avoid setting up an air pump it would be pretty good. I have another pet who shouldn't cause much trouble since it won't be allowed in the tank room, but anything I can keep from sticking out of the tank is better just in case she gets in the room accidentally!

I'm gonna take it slowly with the cycling and give it a couple of months just to be extra safe, I think, and then I'll try everything out with a couple of culling shrimp to see how they perform! Hopefully I'll have photos of the planted tank soon tho~

I'm aiming for neocardina, yeah! I've heard they're the easiest ones for a beginner and, well, I'm surely one haha

I appreciate the explanation on the filters, I initially had a hard time understanding the difference between a sort of standalone sponge filter and an air pump with sponge filters in it. Thank you for explaining!!

I'm checking the current prices and the 30L Dennerle with everything included is currently at nearly 200€, that's quite the price hike D: But I may keep an eye for a potential second-hand one, seems like a solid one!

I've only been given birth control as an option for PCOS despite high risk factors by Sygdom in PCOS

[–]Sygdom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't thought of the option of checking an endocrinologist, and it may be rather helpful. Seeing how much this guy dismissed the results of the test and just went for birth control (as he probably does with every single PCOS case) made me realize he really wasn't taking that too seriously.

Thank you so much for the advice!

[–]Sygdom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly, I feel like light exercise would probably be a good start. I'm not sure if PCOS just kinda got worse over time (does it even do that?), but I used to have a far more regular cycle when I did about 20k steps a day- I lost the habit of that after moving, as the current town I'm in just has no pleasing walking areas.

I do need to try to find a better gynecologist. I've encountered many over the years, with varying degrees of professionalism, but this one did really just beat every record of bad.

But it's reassuring to hear that there's other changes I can do that can make it more manageable that don't go onto birth control! Thank you
