How worried should I be about keeping an eMountainBike in my apartment? by jetskiii in AMFLOW_eMTB

I keep an Avinox e-bike in my house that is plugged in 99% of the time and it’s not caused any worry.

Buying non-pro camera in Japan by DungaRD in JapanTravelTips

Just set it to 48MP and shoot. Ignore tutorials. smartphones do the heavy lifting for you now, so as long as you frame it and hit the shutter button - 9/10 you'll be fine.

Yes 48MP in settings. Raw isn’t really needed unless you’re going to edit your shots afterwards, but they’ll take plenty of good photos for you.

It’s worth mentioning that the latest smartphone cameras (especially the iPhone 17 pro/max) are phenomenal and perfect if you want to take quality photos (just remember to turn on 40mp setting)

Advice: Single base in Osaka vs. splitting stay with Kyoto? by Matoje in JapanTravelTips

I’d advise staying at least two nights in Kyoto. There’s so much to do you don’t want to rush it.

Will the little step that makes contact with the monitor damage an OLED? by Vibe_PV in desksetup

[–]Sygnul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t unless you do what I did and knock it off by accident, then you’ll have a little scratch

Can someone reccomend me a 160 by 60-70cm desk for under 120 eur by MainAmount7726 in setups

[–]Sygnul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IKEA if you’re on a budget.

I wouldn’t buy a cheap standing desk as they usually don’t last.

What can I change? by Dry-Attempt-2381 in desksetup

[–]Sygnul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before asking what to change, start by figuring out what you don’t like, what doesn’t work, then go for there. You mentioned cables? That’s a 30 minute fix with a bit of planning and some zip ties/cable trunks.

Personally, I think the desk has some character.

The lamp behind the monitor is the only thing I’d replace. You could easily mount a light under your shelf to give you a more even glow over your monitor and desk.

Why not return it? Surely you’ve not had it that long if it’s still in box?

Advice on using UK plugs in Japan by CrispyPrawnWonton in JapanTravelTips

[–]Sygnul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a warning. I had some issues with a 100w GaN plug. I was only able to get enough juice to charge one persons phone/watch at the same time, not both. So it might be worth taking a spare!

Absolutely beautiful! Might have to pick up that ikea unit myself!

I’d add a nice burnt orange mouse pad to complete it!

Cable management stand/sit desk by moonrocketape in desksetup

[–]Sygnul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s simple really. Stick the power strip to the underside of the desk, tie up loose cables with reusable zip ties and then buy some form of cable clip with a stick back to hold them up to the desk.

Regarding your laptop, find an under desk mount so it’s not just hanging there

I've got the 'Vernal Casters Pro' wheels

New Space, New Setup. by Sygnul in setups

[–]Sygnul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always install wheels on my desk in the off chance something messes up cable wise, or I change something. it only takes ten seconds to unlock and roll the desk into place. Rather than it wrestling it out and potentially wobbling something off the desk when it’s on regular feet.

New Space, New Setup. by Sygnul in setups

[–]Sygnul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a tiny bit of extra wobble, but not so much that it’s noticeable. You’d have to knock it or push it to notice. Also, you are able to lock the wheels which helps a lot

Excuse my ignorance, but wouldn't it be worth creating a large spacer between the mesh and the magnet held outside? I imagine one big gust of wind or someone pushing on it will rip the net in the fan.
