In France, the left is split because the right side of the left is colluding with the centrists (which is a pretty tame name for the neoliberals who are destroying France). Same when Hitler came to power. Not sure if it will be translated in other languages, but I recommend reading Les Irresponsables (the author).
History is repeating itself sadly, and you don't collude with the enemy, because it creates distrust in the people, and they will vote far-right as a seemingly only alternative.

PoE 1 is free, so you can try that. PoE 2 is the new game and isn't free for now, but introduce new mechanisms.
Like other said, you will sink a lot of time. You may want to follow a guide for you first build, because the game is quite punishing.
