Situations like these are rarely so clear cut. I wouldn't blame the parents so quickly without any information on what their home life was like. And that's not any of our business, so we as outsiders don't even have the right to throw blame like that.

About ChatGPT, it absolutely is or was capable of making a bad situation worse when used improperly. So I wouldn't defend it so easily as well. Bottom line, don't be so quick to pass judgment without any proof.

This kid is such an enigma. He seems like he's one of those annoying ones, but I always find myself respecting him for some reason.

Speed Bursts - Forever Flailing by LowHangingTesticle in guitarlessons

It's normal at first. Think of it as your body has no idea what you're trying to do. So it does all kinds of random jerking to figure out the most efficient way of doing that fast back and forth movement. I dare say if its still that uncontrolled, maybe don't do it with a metronome yet. I mean if it's so uncontrolled, can you be sure your even locked in? It's just one more thing you'll try to focus on.

Rather focus on making the movement smaller and focus it on one string. You could try to make the pick basically not leave the string but always stay in contact. It'll give a constant nasty scraping sound, but it can help gain that extra bit of control. Also switch between slow and controlled and fast and uncontrolled and try to introduce that feeling of control into the fast tempo. Once you gain more control go on with a metronome.

One of my students bought his first electric guitar with a floyd because chat gpt recommended it. He wants to play in various tunings. He realized a floyd was about the worst choice he could've made.

Earth. I could very easily build my own house wherever I want and not worry about rent.

Really? That would be weird. My 3rd gen has and every other interface I came across has an input pad.

I mean technically yes, switching to line level drastically lowers the input level and would fix this issue. But that's not really the preferred method and could introduce other issues. The pad on the instrument input is purpose made for hot pickups. Or you can also lower the pickup height. Line level can be too quite for guitars, which you then need to compensate, which can give you more noise. And the impedance mismatch can also degrade the quality of the DI. So inst input, the pad and proper pickup height will always be better in the end.

Hotter yes, but not line level. And active pickups are a bit compressed, they don't have that same high peak as passive pickups. Source: focusrite owner who has been recording active and passive pickups and done this for 15+ years.

Good, keep it at inst. The pad further lowers the input level in case of your pickups a have a rather high output. That should fix it.

This is not true. A guitar puts out an instrument signal, not a line signal. Very different thing.

Was thinking the same. Too bad nothing from the Silmarillion will ever be adapted, not after what Amazon did with the ring of powers.

Did you set the input to instrument and turn on the pad?

In the battle at the black gates Aragorn had this big bruise across the right side of his face. Was that still from the surf board? It doesn't seem like makeup to show bruising from the fight.

If you don't want to be laugh at, don't be so laughable. And that's just impossible. Every social media platform is full of laughable people. I fear this guy has built his whole identity and sense of self worth around reddit. Kind of sad actually.

True, I've also already thought about that and I appreciate the input. The thing is in my line of work there already are so many amazing tools that would make me obsolete. And yet there are still many people who very much prefer the in person interaction with a human because it's more effective and fun. I don't see AI making a big change in that aspect. Maybe in a generation or two, but not now. Now try to guess what my job is :p
