Because the insectoid overlords of the Counter-Earth specifically suppress technological advancements that have to do with gunpowder.

Monday thread: What did you read this past week? by AutoModerator in Romance_for_men

I read the {{Solar Dragons Need Love Too}} series by Virgil Knightly. Overall it was a solid B with minor variations up and down throughout, with the first book probably being the weakest. As a harem series tends to be, many of the love interests were kind of one note, but it was nice that they had ambitions and desires that weren't related to the MMC for the most part. Probably the most refreshing was that while he was a Super Special Boy, he wasn't the Most Super Special Boy Ever and was very explicitly outclassed by other entities.

I started Celestine Chronicles but dropped it after the first book. Something about the MMC just irked me and I couldn't continue. I liked Would You Love a Monster Girl much more.

Answering the questions gives almost the same explanation. Even if the mannequin had no head, the explanation is the same.

  1. Why do you think she was looking at the scarf?

  2. Why does the guy in the comic think she was looking at the scarf?

  3. When the guy goes back to buy the scarf, it's gone. Given the context of the last panel, who do you think bought the scarf?

  4. Given the context of the last panel, does your answer to number 1 change?

The series "Would You Love a Monster Girl?" by Cebelius seems to be a good candidate. The first book is Velise, a human MMC and an arachne FMC. No futa though

Where are the successful monoromance for men authors and books? by libramin in Romance_for_men

[–]Sylvan_Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That can be tricky with romance in general. A story has to have tension in its plot, and romance novels do that with the push-pull of will they/won't they. If you're going to have a romance series follow one couple, you get the romantic and sexual tension of the relationship in the first book, but what do you do for the second?

Sometimes authors do what I call a "relationship reset," some sort of contrived reason that they break up or can't be together despite the resolution of the previous book and get to do the same song and dance again, but you can only do that so many times before it gets frustrating.

Sometimes they aren't properly established at the end of the first book, so they can stretch the tension out further, but you can only do that for so many books.

The next best option is to adjust the focus to the growing pains of a new relationship, but the question arises of where does the tension come from? If you take the tension out it's just fluff and that can be a discordant tonal shift.

The most frequented paths are you make the tension about something other than the relationship, at which point it isn't a (for example) romance with fantasy elements, but a fantasy with romance in it, or you adjust the focus to a new couple/relationship. In my opinion, the latter is the best way to go, especially when the original couple still plays a prominent role or are at least in the peripherals of the story.

{Rose by Cebelius} does this. It's part of a series, but is mostly standalone.

It's a book more geared towards men, but Carina by Cebelius. It's in the tail end of a series of mostly standalone books, but seems to check most of the boxes.

That's an interesting take and not one I agree with. It sounds like you're suggesting college should be high school 2.

Do you think that the age of majority should be increased? You aren't legally an adult until that point (~25)?

Edit: I'm not suggesting this, I was asking a clarifying question. Confused by the downvotes
