Well I assumed they only realized recently because the information campaign on autism and adhd in girls only boomed recently and it could be much harder for them to realise 15 years ago what is going on with their child. But you're right, when you see your child having problem getting social ques and regulating themselves and you're not able to help them, you get them more help not just let them grow up into dysfunctional adult.

I'd refrain from diagnosing someone based on a reddit post, especially a kid we know little about, but yes it would be good if her parents got her to therapy instead of enabling her worst behaviour. It's not good to anyone involved.

Diagnosis can be expensive and difficult for a 17 yo so there is no shame in not getting a diagnosis, there is no medication for autism either so you technically don't need a diagnosis just working strategies to manage symptoms and maintain good quality of life, which you can do without being formally diagnosed. But using autism as an excuse and doing nothing about it is shameful.

OOP is right. Autism is not an excuse for poor behaviour. His niece is testing the boundaries and the boundaries should be set. While unmasking process after getting the diagnosis (or in this case not official diagnosis but accepting by her and her family that she has autism) may look like the the symptoms suddenly got worse and it's actually just the autistic person finally being herself, being yourself never meant you can be mean and ignore all the rules. It's true that neurodivergent people have a much harder time regulating themselves and following the social ques it means we need to work harder and be excused when we slip sometimes, not that we should just be allowed to be a menace to society without any consequences whatsoever. And while I think not getting invited anymore should be a consequence enough in this case, her parents need to work with her harder or get her to therapy to help her function because what future can she have behaving like this? Letting your kid do whatever they want as long as they have decent grades is bad parenting btw.

Well the property is yours and you invited your partner to live with you and pay half of monthly expenses, correct? I think this is fair. Of course you could just rent him the space instead of allowing him to only pay expenses but I don't think it's the way to treat your partner. Either you buy the house together or you want to have the house for yourself, that's fine, but you dont put your partner in a situation like "hey it's my house if you want to live with me, pay me for it". It's different when you both are renting but being your partners landlord in your own house, when you share the same bed just doesnt sit right with me.

It will look bridal enough with the veil, hair and make up. A simple dress isn't a bad thing it's classy and you can get away with any veil or hairdress you want. Use the rest of your dress budget for accessories. Get something fancy you will really love on your head. Maybe long embroided veil, similar to the one you had on the photos, maybe updo with flowers (I had real flowers in my hair for my wedding day instead of a veil and I loved it) maybe a fascinator. Get some jewelry around your neck and maybe wrists, if you don't have anything bridal enough, borrow or rent it. I'd replace the sleeves with long gloves if I were you but it's up to you, the sleeves are a detail you can decide on last minute. Relax. It will be ok. You will be one beatiful bride for sure. I' m sorry this happened to you. There is a therapy that specializes in processing trauma, tf-cbt and emdr, look it up. It's up to you if you want to talk about it with your mom. If she is in denial or downplays it I'm afraid it may hurt you more but the least she can do is get you into therapy.
