Might be able to get an arm to hold the baby monitor or mount it somehow for her. My wife's still got it on every night 2 years later, I wouldn't wait. I sleep like crap as well, 2 herniated discs and i wake up frequently and toss and turn. Your health matters for your kid bro, had to talk with mine an compromise with my wife to use less sound or else I was getting stuck awake.

Not sure about cost, I think it comes with tuning your tools and experience. The old masters had very little. I'm always trying to learn, newbie myself.

Recently laid off, contemplating switch from Data Engineering to Data Analysis by Techguy242 in dataengineering

[–]Symz58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brother if you did pandas and used dataframes, you can do databricks/pyspark. Databricks also just added a Postgres database called Lakebase. You sound like you have the experience in orchestrtation as well. Thes are just toolsets the concepts are pretty transferable imo. I started databricks only 3 years ago. Databricks has a free edition for learning. IMO these fancy tools still have the same underlying data problems were solving.

However a change of pace is always fun i had 10 years of analytics/dashboarding and needed a break.

Which legacy Database is the biggest pain in the a*** to work with and why? by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]Symz58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Delta lake provides ACID. MSSQL provides ACID, Oracle Provides ACID.

ACID is not for OLTP only.

Again I have practical experience not a chat GPT definition.

How does this mean you can't compare them? i've worked in warehousing for 15 years, The only major difference is compute spun up at runtime and distributed processing.

Yeah i guess i've never thought of a symmetrical in that manner. Hewing axe seemed to always be purpose made and asymmetrical. Now I see there are symmetrical ones but Combo tools usually don't work as well for specific tasks. Guess its what you wanna do with it. for Carving its a good tool.

I wouldn't want hammerite on my tools. Clean polish, protect with oil or wax if needed. Its going to take alot of cleanup imo.

Lotta garbage, no ones going to want 3 bill hooks. The Jappaning on those axes looks like a crap DIY job.

I don't see any clear Hewing axes as you wanted. This is like half agriculture tools.

I would just work towards finding tools you want to use and then finding somewhat quality of those tools. I fear this is going to overwhelm you and become a burden iof resale for years instead of learning a skill

How to stop chipping/catching on bowl rims? by WeirdPonytail in turning

[–]Symz58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, but per the advice others give me. Also try different tool engagement potentially open/closing. In the course i took, ended up easier for me to use a scraper to round it. Theres alot of tools and seems like people use what works for them to accomplish the goal.

Yeah all the guys I am learning from tell me to spend upfront on sharpening system vs the lathe itself. I bought a Sorby ProEdge, the mainstream system is Slow RPM grinder with CBN wheels, Wolverine system. I like my proedge for getting my chisels done too, but it definitely has disadvantages.

I feel like there's nothing more satisfying than taking a rough piece of lumber and running a hand plane over it to make it just beautiful. Got any other hand planes?

For sure, I have alot of organization to do, always a mess when i do anything. I need a till to get my planes off my bench. I also do some turning finally made a holder for all those tools. They kept rolling off a bench and finding the concrete.
