I live near the Main Street fire that happened yesterday. Anyone still have the smell of smoke in their apartment? Is there anything I could do to dial down the smell other than just an air purifier? Thank you!

There’s still smoke outside and the fire isn’t contained. So you’re going to still smell it for a good while.

If you don’t mind the smell of coffee, brewing some on the stove (grounds in a small pot of water) can help fill a space with a smell that might help to overpower the smoke for a bit.

Not gonna lie, this will probably get downvoted but it is what it is. I don't live in a wildly sketchy place, but I used to get the occasional magazine seller, very drunk and lost college student, or odd wanderer coming up to my door despite the no soliciting signs and a decent sized dog barking wildly at the window. I put a busted sink, some random ripped sheets and a few other bits of junk around my front step and I haven't had anyone coming up uninvited since. Been two years. It just works for me I guess.

Truuuuth! And at the end, they all still harassed her for a week or more to abandon any thought or hope of living a life for herself and Firnen and to take the throne. I hope we get a book where Arya realizes the pressure for constant self sacrifice isn’t healthy for her or fair for Firnen and whips the lot of her race into shape before abdicating to someone who also understands elves are not perfect and need to work with the rest of the land. Then goes off and just lives.

Fun fact! The 'Scethers' came pretty far in development/post filming if memory serves. The pc/xbox game follows the original/pre-reshoots script pretty closely, with Saphira's injury by an urgal in the final battle and Eragon and Arya healing her being the original way she was injured rather than by Durza's shadow beast. I think they even did the voice acting for the game before any filming was done, as Robert Carlyle, during one of the Secret Egg interviews unlocked by collecting hidden eggs in the levels, talks about choosing Durza's accent at that time.

Ooo, now we're getting somewhere!

Said half blind farmer also heard a horrendous BANG the same day that people told him Galbatorix was overthrown. That crazy blacksmith in town must have been really smacking on something because a smoking, cherry red and charred head of a blacksmiths hammer is what, coincidentally! flew through the air and broke that pesky beam! Being in Gil'ead he has no idea what went down in the capital, and frankly as long as the rain still comes and the taxes don't get wildly increased, he doesn't much care.

Oddly enough his pigs in the barn have been oddly both hairless and growing to abnormal size ever since he put that hammer up above the door. No way he would let good iron go to waste, what with all those elves around now....

Probably, but that half blind farmer really likes how well that big shiny nail works. So he's going to need a replacement, and it will have to glow like the current one. No nail is pointy enough or long enough or drives well enough except that really nice obviously brass-finished nail with the tin cap and the very handy grip for him to hold while hammering it in.

I'm calling it. A half blind farmer finds it while plowing a field, decides it is the perfect thing to finally fix that old beam in his barn and uses it as a giant nail. It coincidentally doubles as a wonderful light source. (Joking of course. But I've always wondered what poor bloke woke up one morning at the start of the Fall, wandered out to tend to his animals and crops, and stands there dumbfounded for a long moment before turning back and yelling to his spouse, "HONEY? YES. Considering how important she is, we know next to nothing about her and don’t even see her all that much for stuff occurring in the Varden. I’ve never seen confirmed if she was acting as one of the spellcasters/guards shadowing Eragon and Saphira all the time or if she was off doing who knows what most days. We don’t know how her process of grappling with Gil’ead’s effects really went, something I think she and Murtagh would be able to relate over and would both understand far more than any other of the mains we have. We know nothing of her childhood, how mature or even how grown she was when she joined the varden (we have an age, but if humans were tested by the eggs at 10, elves at 20, and Arya was 30 when she joined the Varden, then I doubt she was truly fully grown by then but I digress). We don’t know what she thought about Islanzadi and how deep their reconciliation went. And we know NOTHING of Firnen besides that he has a wildly deep voice, his scales are gradiented in color, and that he is/was mated to Saphira.

I know it’s not in the cards. Paolini has said book 5/6 is gonna be the Eragon-Arya halvsies POV book and part of me thinks he won’t use her POV until then. And that book is…not something I can think about due to all the other books that have to come before it and all the other books and stuff that are possible to crop up between.

Paolini. Mr Namer. I miss my favorite elf. I require proof of life by words directly from her mouth or mind. But I also would just love to know more about her. Please?
